Almost done: Arsenal close in on signing £60m “monster”, he’d be amazing with Rodrygo…

Arsenal is nearing the completion of a £60m signing of a formidable player, who would complement Rodrygo exceptionally well.

Although there are still two Premier League matches remaining, the transfer window is approaching, and Arsenal is preparing for an active period.

Mikel Arteta’s team has not secured a trophy for five consecutive seasons, which explains the recent links to a variety of exciting attacking talents.

Among the most notable is Real Madrid’s Rodrygo, who would represent a significant acquisition for new Sporting Director Andrea Berta in his inaugural summer at the club.

However, Rodrygo is not the only transformative forward being considered for a move to the Emirates, as reports indicate that Arsenal is close to finalizing a deal for an international player who would be a perfect partner for the Champions League winner.

Before discussing this player, it’s important to mention other promising scorers linked to Arsenal recently, including Nico Williams and Leroy Sane.

Williams has a release clause of approximately £48m, which would need to be paid in full, but his impressive tally of 11 goals and seven assists in 44 matches this season suggests he would be worth the investment.

Sane, conversely, would be available for free as his contract expires at the end of the season, and with 13 goals and six assists in 44 games this year, acquiring him seems like a straightforward decision.

To maximize Rodrygo’s potential next season, Arteta and his team must secure a prolific striker, such as Viktor Gyokeres.

Fortunately, reports from a Spanish outlet suggest that negotiations between Arsenal and Sporting CP for this player are progressing well.

The report suggests that the deal, valued at approximately €71 million (£60 million), is nearly finalized, with the Swedish international set to join the Gunners.

While this transfer is certainly a significant investment, Gyokeres’ remarkable goal-scoring prowess makes it a worthwhile endeavor, especially considering the potential boost it could provide to Rodrygo’s performance if he also joins the team.

Gyokeres would be an ideal partner for Rodrygo for numerous reasons, but the most crucial factor is his impressive output.

The effectiveness of Rodrygo’s chances created from the left flank is contingent upon the center-forward’s ability to convert those opportunities.

Fortunately, the Sporting CP star excels in this area, consistently finding the back of the net.

Last season, he scored 43 goals and assisted 15 times in 50 matches, averaging 1.16 goal contributions per game.

This season, he has further elevated his performance, netting 52 goals and providing 13 assists in the same number of appearances, resulting in an average of 1.3 goal involvements per game, or one every 62.12 minutes.

The prospect of Rodrygo playing alongside such a prolific striker is exciting, as it would likely enhance his own goal and assist statistics while also creating more space for him as defenders concentrate on the Swedish forward.

In the end, it may prove to be an expensive transaction, but Gyokeres appears poised to make a significant impact for Arsenal next season.

If Berta and his team can also secure the signing of the Real Madrid star, it will be difficult for any team to challenge the Gunners in the upcoming year.
