Following Barcola & Minteh: Liverpool supporters should be alert after the latest update from Sky Sports.

Reports suggest that Liverpool is aiming to acquire “2-3 more players” before the transfer window closes.

Florian Plettenberg from Sky Sports Germany has shared on X (formerly Twitter) that the club’s “top priorities” are Bradley Barcola and Yankuba Minteh.

Liverpool is keen on securing both Bradley Barcola and Yankuba Minteh.

It has become evident after witnessing the Reds’ opening draw against Newcastle United at St James’ Park that additional reinforcements are crucial.

The Rio Ngumoha initiative at right wing is unlikely to be abandoned, as Andoni Iraola favors wingers who can play in multiple positions.

🚨👀 Liverpool is strategizing to sign 2-3 more players before Deadline Day.

At this point, Bradley Barcola and Yankuba Minteh remain Liverpool’s primary targets.

However, the former Chelsea talent’s evident difficulties suggest that Liverpool should consider acquiring a more naturally right-sided attacker to ease the burden on the 17-year-old as he adjusts to the role.

Additionally, bringing in Bradley Barcola would provide much-needed elite quality to the attacking lineup.

Who might be Liverpool’s sixth signing?

Andoni Iraola’s assertion that Liverpool’s midfield issues are not solely due to a lack of suitable players – along with the club’s indication that a natural holding six is not seen as essential at this moment – implies that we are unlikely to enhance the midfield this summer.

In this scenario, it appears that the most probable area for strengthening will be the centre-forward position, as the Reds aim to revamp the forward line following Mo Salah’s early departure.

This would, in theory, leave Liverpool with sufficient options across the front three once Hugo Ekitike recovers from injury:

Cody Gakpo

Bradley Barcola

Alexander Isak

Hugo Ekitike

Rio Ngumoha

Victor Munoz

Yankuba Minteh

[A third potential signing could be considered]

Earlier in August, there were indications that Nick Woltemade, Newcastle’s sidelined forward, could be a potential option for us, as the Magpies were reportedly amenable to a loan arrangement.

Such a deal would likely benefit Iraola’s team, as it would alleviate the challenge of distributing playing time among three strikers.

Nonetheless, this specific connection appears to have quieted down recently, leaving us uncertain about how Liverpool’s recruitment team intends to manage the upcoming months of Ekitike’s recovery.
