PSG has made a decision regarding Liverpool target Bradley Barcola as they announce their squad.

Liverpool is interested in PSG players Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye as they aim to enhance their attacking options under Andoni Iraola this summer.

Paris Saint-Germain has included Liverpool-linked Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye in their squad for the French Super Cup final against Lens on Sunday night. This development follows PSG’s acquisition of winger Mika Godts from Ajax on Saturday, which could provide Liverpool with a boost in their pursuit of either forward from the French club.

Andoni Iraola’s side is reportedly preparing a substantial offer for Barcola after Luis Enrique welcomed Godts and Spanish World Cup champion Ferran Torres to his roster this summer.

The France international Barcola has garnered considerable interest from Anfield as Liverpool seeks to enhance their offensive capabilities. However, the £130 million price tag is believed to pose a challenge.

On the other hand, Mbaye represents a more affordable option for the Reds. Recent reports suggest that Liverpool may consider making a £42 million bid for the 18-year-old.

Nonetheless, a potential transfer to Merseyside for both players seems to be a distant prospect.

European and French champions PSG have confirmed that Barcola and Mbaye are set to play against last season’s Ligue 1 runners-up, Lens, on Sunday.

However, Enrique’s squad is now filled with wingers. Torres and Godts have joined French forward Maghnes Akliouche as new attacking options for the Spaniard this summer.

With an abundance of wingers available, it indicates that at least one of Barcola or Mbaye may be on the verge of leaving. Whether PSG is willing to reduce their asking price for Barcola remains uncertain.

Last season, Barcola netted 13 goals and provided seven assists across all competitions as PSG clinched both Ligue 1 and the Champions League. Meanwhile, teenager Mbaye scored three goals and recorded two assists in 29 appearances for the Parisian club.

Both players would offer a crucial attacking enhancement for Iraola following the departure of Mohamed Salah. This summer, Liverpool has secured the acquisitions of Victor Munoz and Ronald Araujo, but Iraola acknowledged last month that there are ‘obvious’ areas needing attention in the transfer market.

The 44-year-old stated: “It’s challenging to specify a number. When the market is open, one must remain receptive to new opportunities to strengthen the squad.

“There are clear areas where we need to recruit players. For instance, we certainly require a winger, but there are additional aspects we must evaluate based on market availability, costs, and our assessment of the current players.

“We face some complex situations with injured players we have faith in, yet it remains less than ideal, so our decisions will hinge on various factors.”

Liverpool will begin the new season against Newcastle United on Sunday, August 23 (4:30pm).
