Arsenal is engaged in a transfer rivalry with Real Madrid for a teenage talent who aligns perfectly with Mikel Arteta’s strategy.

The Gunners are competing with Real Madrid to secure a young prodigy who is an ideal match for Mikel Arteta’s vision.

Arsenal is actively pursuing Brazilian prodigy Vitor Reis, but they are encountering stiff competition from Real Madrid, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Barcelona for his acquisition.

The Gunners have joined the competition to secure Palmeiras’ young talent Vitor Reis, facing rivals such as Real Madrid, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Barcelona.

Reis has made a significant impact since his debut in Brazil’s Serie A this season, accumulating 11 appearances in the league.

His impressive performances led to a new contract in the summer, extending his commitment to Palmeiras until December 2028.

The defender has drawn comparisons to PSG’s Marquinhos and Real Madrid’s Eder Militao due to his playing style.

Although he has not yet received a senior national team call-up, he has captained Brazil’s youth teams in 13 matches.

Reis has now attracted the attention of several elite European clubs, setting the stage for a fierce transfer battle. While Chelsea, Liverpool, and Barcelona have shown interest, it is Arsenal and Real Madrid that are currently at the forefront.

According to The Athletic, both clubs have made preliminary inquiries with Palmeiras and Reis’ representatives regarding a potential transfer.

Although no formal offers have been submitted, Palmeiras has expressed a desire to retain the defender until after the 2025 Club World Cup.

His recent contract includes an £83 million release clause, which could facilitate a quicker transfer. Despite having a solid defensive lineup, Arsenal is keen on signing the 18-year-old due to his immense potential.

A significant challenge for Arsenal is their existing duo of top centre-backs, Gabriel and William Saliba.

However, Reis’s versatility allows him to play as a right-back, providing the Gunners with an opportunity to offer him a development path similar to that of Riccardo Calafiori and Ben White.

Madrid is eager to acquire a center-back following Leny Yoro’s decision to join Manchester United instead of moving to the Bernabeu. Currently, they have only two fit central defenders available, as David Alaba is still in recovery from a significant knee injury.

In the midst of speculation regarding his future, Reis is focused on his role at Palmeiras. The young talent is determined to secure trophies with the Brazilian club while also aspiring for a national team call-up.

“My primary focus is on Palmeiras and making a meaningful contribution here. I prefer to take things step by step, as I am still young and at the start of my professional career,” he stated last week.

“My ambition is to win titles with Palmeiras and make my mark. Every player dreams of representing their national team, and I am no different.

Although I’m still in the early stages, I have already experienced opportunities at the youth level.

“Of course, I aspire to be part of the first team. Achieving that will depend on my performance at Palmeiras.

I must fully commit here, win titles, and then pursue my other personal aspirations. With time and experience, I am confident I can develop.”
