Newcastle United has officially made a bid for Premier League star Archie Gray.

The Magpies have submitted a surprising offer for the Tottenham midfielder as discussions regarding Sandro Tonali continue, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Manager Eddie Howe is eager to enhance the squad at St James’ Park, and Gray is among the players he is considering.

The 20-year-old’s ability to play both in midfield and defense would provide valuable versatility for Newcastle.

However, Tottenham has firmly stated that Gray is not available for transfer and has no intention of parting with the English talent in the near future.

It is uncertain if Newcastle plans to return with a revised offer, but Spurs are unlikely to entertain a deal.

The North London side is interested in acquiring Magpies midfielder Sandro Tonali, but Newcastle is reportedly asking for around £100 million for the Italian.

It is unclear whether Newcastle is interested in a player-plus-cash arrangement involving Gray for Tonali, but reports suggest they are also reluctant to let the midfielder go.

Last season, Gray made 35 appearances for Tottenham, contributing two goals and three assists while playing both left-back and in central midfield.

Having joined Tottenham from Leeds United in 2024, Gray has since made 81 appearances, including 52 as a first-team player during his debut season at Elland Road.

He is regarded as one of the most promising young talents in the Premier League, which explains Newcastle’s interest and Tottenham’s desire to retain him.
