Slot’s approach aims to balance player fitness and performance levels.

Arne Slot has announced his intention to increase the rotation of players, emphasizing that Federico Chiesa “requires playing time.”

Slot indicated that he plans to integrate Chiesa and the broader Liverpool squad more frequently in the upcoming weeks.

Chiesa’s initial appearance was brief, as he substituted for Mo Salah during the last four minutes of stoppage time against AC Milan.

This moment was significant for the Italian winger, who transferred from Juventus for £12.5 million in the final days of the summer transfer window.

Given that he spent much of the summer training separately from Juventus’ first team, Slot has been cautious with the integration of his new No. 14.

In an interview with beIN SPORTS following Liverpool’s 3-1 victory at the San Siro, Slot was asked about Chiesa’s future involvement. “Yes, I believe we will see more of him,” Slot responded.

“We will also see more of the players who have not had much playing time in recent matches.

Chiesa is improving his fitness; he faced challenges during pre-season as he was unable to train consistently with Juventus’ first team, which meant he had to train alone for a significant period.

“Achieving match fitness takes time, but he is progressing well. He needs to accumulate playing minutes now, although he faces competition from several talented wingers. We will determine the right moment to utilize him.

“However, he is poised to become a valuable asset for us, a highly skilled player, which we recognized before signing him and continue to observe in training.”

Liverpool is currently navigating a demanding schedule, with two matches already completed out of a total of seven in just 22 days.

Upcoming fixtures include Bournemouth, West Ham, Wolves, Bologna, and Crystal Palace, all set to take place within the next 15 days leading up to the October international break.

It is reasonable to expect that Slot will implement greater rotation during this stretch, having already made two adjustments to his starting lineup for the match against AC Milan.

Chiesa is anticipated to play a more significant role, providing Salah with much-needed rest as the right winger enjoys a strong start to the season.

On Tuesday, Joe Gomez made his season debut, while Wataru Endo also had a brief appearance.

Additionally, Curtis Jones, Darwin Nunez, Conor Bradley, Jarell Quansah, and potentially Tyler Morton may also be considered for selection.
