Liverpool has the opportunity to clinch the title in January by acquiring a £70m striker, potentially snatching him from Arsenal’s grasp.
By securing a £70 million striker in January, Liverpool could potentially lock in the title while leaving Arsenal empty-handed.
This season presents Liverpool with a prime opportunity to secure their second Premier League title, and a key player available in January could be pivotal in bringing that title home.
Currently leading the league, Liverpool is in a strong position, especially with Arsenal and Manchester City showing signs of vulnerability.
Manager Arne Slot will be eager to maintain his team’s momentum.
Slot is working with a squad similar to that of Jurgen Klopp, with the exception of Federico Chiesa, who may be leaving.
He believes Liverpool is on the verge of achieving something significant.
As the January transfer window approaches, Liverpool must remain competitive, especially with Arsenal and City likely looking to bolster their squads.
In a surprising turn of events, Liverpool could potentially secure the title by acquiring one of Arsenal’s long-desired signings.
Liverpool should make a move for Dusan Vlahovic as new links to Arsenal emerge. The Reds are currently in excellent form and possess several players capable of finding the net.
However, like Arsenal—and City if Erling Haaland is unavailable—they lack a true, traditional number nine.
While Darwin Nunez can fill that role, he has often excelled in wider positions.
Enter Dusan Vlahovic.
Journalist Rudy Galetti has reported that Arsenal is once again eyeing Vlahovic for January, and importantly, Juventus is already preparing for his potential departure.
Vlahovic could serve as Liverpool’s powerful forward. Throughout a lengthy season, there will be matches where a different type of player is necessary, and Vlahovic possesses unique attributes that few at Liverpool have.
In addition to being exceptionally quick, Vlahovic is a formidable attacking presence, standing at six feet tall.
Notably, he has even been compared to Erling Haaland, a significant accolade in today’s football landscape.
Giovanni Galli, a Juventus legend, expressed that if he were in Guardiola’s position and presented with the opportunity to swap Vlahovic for Haaland, he would readily accept the deal.
He believes that Dusan possesses qualities that rival those of the Norwegian striker.
Galli noted that at Juventus, Vlahovic must capitalize on the limited chances he receives, as the Bianconeri do not create opportunities at the same rate as City, who average ten chances per match.
Despite this, Vlahovic has managed to score 12 goals so far.
Galli expressed a desire to see him play in a more offensive setup, suggesting that if he were part of Manchester City, he could potentially net 50 goals in a season, similar to Haaland.
There are indications that Juventus may seek around £70 million for Vlahovic, but given the timing at the start of 2024, that figure could have decreased.
A transfer to Anfield could potentially revitalize Vlahovic and help Liverpool secure the title ahead of Arsenal and City.
