Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Liverpool has initiated significant double contacts for stars worth £185m.

Romano has provided further updates on Liverpool’s transfer activities, as the club’s management seeks to acquire another high-profile player alongside Yan Diomande.

The Premier League club is gearing up for another summer of investment, and while Diomande is expected to attract the most attention, they are also in search of a midfield addition.

In this regard, several players have reportedly caught their interest. There is a well-known admiration for Adam Wharton, but no advancements have been made regarding that transfer yet, while Ayyoub Bouaddi has emerged as a player to keep an eye on.

The Moroccan teenager from LOSC Lille is having a standout World Cup and could become one of the most sought-after talents in the market once the tournament wraps up.

However, securing the 18-year-old will be a competitive challenge for Liverpool, which may lead them to explore alternative options in the upcoming months.

Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes are open to this strategy and have already identified an impressive £85m player as a viable alternative.

Romano has confirmed Liverpool’s contacts for a £185m spending spree.

In a recent conversation with Born ‘N Red, Romano discussed various topics, starting with the confirmation that Anfield officials “will return” for RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande after making headway on personal terms.

They aim to finalize the deal swiftly after their initial £87m offer was turned down, with Leipzig insisting on a figure closer to £100m.

Once this transfer is settled, their focus will shift to the midfield. According to Romano, Liverpool has also engaged in discussions to acquire Mateus Fernandes from West Ham United in recent weeks, initiating an inquiry.

The Hammers have remained firm on their substantial £85m asking price, despite their recent relegation to the Championship, which has caused hesitation among clubs like Manchester United.

With the door slightly open for Liverpool to act, those in Merseyside have the opportunity to invest £185m to acquire two of the most coveted players available.

It remains to be seen if they will adopt a similar approach to United and hesitate to invest such a substantial amount on a Championship player.
