Newcastle hold ‘fresh’ talks to sign brilliant 28 G/A winger who’s ‘better suited’ than Victor Munoz…
Newcastle United has resumed discussions to acquire the talented 28 G/A winger Abde Ezzalzouli, who is considered to be a more fitting option than Victor Munoz.
Following the setback of Spanish international Victor Munoz opting for Liverpool, Newcastle has rekindled its interest in Real Betis winger Abde Ezzalzouli, as reported by TEAMtalk.
The Magpies are actively seeking attacking reinforcements, and sources have confirmed that new talks have been initiated with Ezzalzouli’s representatives as the club reevaluates its options after Munoz’s unexpected transfer to Liverpool.
TEAMtalk has disclosed that Newcastle had been negotiating deals for both Munoz and Ezzalzouli concurrently in recent weeks.
However, the pursuit of Munoz had progressed the furthest.
Sources suggest that Newcastle had made substantial headway in discussions regarding the Osasuna player, while negotiations involving both Osasuna and Real Madrid – who held a buy-back clause on the player – were nearly concluded.
Indeed, TEAMtalk understands that Munoz’s agents had communicated to Newcastle that the player was dedicated to a move to Tyneside.
Yet, in a surprising turn of events, just a day later, the Spanish international finalized a transfer to Liverpool, leaving Newcastle disheartened and in search of alternatives. This disappointment has heightened their interest in Ezzalzouli.
Newcastle has a strong admiration for the Moroccan winger.
Despite claims that Newcastle had diminished their interest in the Moroccan player while pursuing Munoz, club sources maintain that this was never the case.
TEAMtalk revealed last month that initial discussions with Ezzalzouli’s camp had already commenced, and those talks have now intensified once more.
The 24-year-old is highly valued by Newcastle’s recruitment team, who believe he possesses many attributes necessary to succeed in the Premier League.
A senior scout from the Premier League informed TEAMtalk that Ezzalzouli might actually be ‘better suited’ to English football than Munoz, thanks to his direct playing style, physical attributes, and capability to challenge defenders.
This assessment is echoed by several individuals within the sport.
He achieved an impressive tally of 15 goals and 13 assists in all competitions for Real Betis this season, and he appears poised for further development as he gains experience.
However, Ezzalzouli’s summer has been marred by injury. The Morocco international had to withdraw from the World Cup finals after sustaining a sprained medial ligament in his knee just before the tournament began.
This was a significant setback for the winger, who was anticipated to play a crucial role for his national team. Nevertheless, TEAMtalk reports that his recovery is progressing positively.
Sources close to the player have indicated that he is well into his rehabilitation program and is on track to be fully fit for pre-season within the next month.
This optimistic medical prognosis has provided reassurance to interested clubs.
Newcastle in ‘fresh dialogue’ over move
Newcastle remains confident that Ezzalzouli presents a valuable market opportunity, and the club’s admiration for him has not waned despite his recent injury.
The former Barcelona winger had another promising season with Betis and continues to draw interest from various clubs across Europe.
For Newcastle, enhancing their wide attacking options is still a priority.
The failure of the Munoz deal was an unforeseen setback, especially considering how far along discussions had progressed, but the club is committed to acting swiftly to avoid missing out on another key target.
New discussions with Ezzalzouli’s representatives are currently taking place, and TEAMtalk understands that Newcastle is once again closely evaluating the Moroccan as they aim to strengthen Eddie Howe’s attacking lineup ahead of the upcoming season.
