‘Unfortunate news’ – Newcastle United faces a significant injury setback as a key player is hospitalized ahead of the match against Crystal Palace.

Injuries at Newcastle United: Eddie Howe has provided an update regarding the recovery statuses of Fabian Schar, Bruno Guimaraes, and Lewis Miley.

Fabian Schar has encountered a serious injury setback for Newcastle United, while Bruno Guimaraes continues to be unavailable.

Eddie Howe addressed the media for the first time since Newcastle’s 2-1 home loss to Sunderland prior to the international break.

The Magpies are set to resume Premier League play against Crystal Palace on Sunday, as Howe and his squad aim to turn the season around with only seven matches remaining.

Currently, United is positioned 12th in the Premier League standings, yet they still have a chance for European qualification if they can achieve a series of favorable results.

Newcastle is expected to receive a boost with the return of Lewis Miley, who has been out for over two months due to a thigh injury. The 19-year-old was seen training ahead of the journey to Selhurst Park.

Eddie Howe provides an injury update for NUFC, highlighting the latest setback for Fabian Schar.

However, Howe indicated that there was ‘mixed’ news regarding injuries, as he disclosed setbacks for both Bruno Guimaraes and Fabian Schar. Sven Botman may also be available again, wearing a protective mask after suffering a facial fracture against Sunderland.

“We’ve had somewhat mixed injury news, I would say, during the break,” Howe stated in his pre-match press conference. “Yes, we certainly appear stronger than we did before the Sunderland match. We had several players missing.

“Bruno has been affected, as most are aware, by mumps upon his return from Brazil. This has delayed his comeback. Therefore, he will not participate in this game. There is also uncertainty regarding his availability for the Bournemouth match.

“There are no injury issues, but the illness has hindered him from completing some crucial work that we needed him to do to be considered for these matches. He may return for the following game. However, it is essential that he comes back when he is fully prepared.

“Unfortunately, Fabian has developed an infection in his foot. As a result, he is currently hospitalized undergoing a minor procedure to clean it out. We estimate that he will be unavailable for about a month.

“This is unfortunate news for him.

“As for the rest of the team, things are looking positive. Lewis has been training and performing well with us, which is fantastic to see since we have greatly missed him.

“Additionally, Sandro [Tonali] participated during the international break despite his injury from the Sunderland match. Everyone else is in good condition.”
