Liverpool XI vs Wolves: Expected lineup and confirmed team updates.

The Reds have received a significant fitness boost ahead of their revenge mission against Wolves.

Florian Wirtz is now available for selection for tonight’s FA Cup fifth round match against Wolves.

Wirtz has not played for Liverpool since their 3-0 victory over Brighton in the previous round nearly a month ago.

The German was set to start against Nottingham Forest the following week but had to withdraw from the lineup after not feeling completely fit during the warm-up.

Since then, Wirtz has missed Liverpool’s last three matches, including the 2-1 defeat to Wolves when the teams faced off in the Premier League on Tuesday.

During the pre-match press conference, Arne Slot provided an encouraging update on the attacking midfielder.

“He participated in half of yesterday’s training with the team,” Slot informed reporters.

“What I mean by that is he was a ‘joker’, as you might say here, indicating he has made progress in his rehabilitation.

“So, we will see how he feels today and if he could be available for a few – just a few – minutes tomorrow, in the best-case scenario.”

With Wirtz likely to start on the bench, Dominik Szoboszlai is anticipated to maintain his position in the No10 role behind Hugo Ekitike, although there may be adjustments in other areas.

Rio Ngumoha made a strong impression off the bench on Tuesday, leading to calls for the young player to start over either Cody Gakpo or Mohamed Salah.

Alisson Becker might be rested in preparation for next week’s Champions League last-16 first leg against Galatasaray, which could allow Giorgi Mamardashvili to make his first start since the third round victory over Barnsley.

Joe Gomez, Andy Robertson, and Curtis Jones are all vying for starting positions, but a shortage of central defensive options suggests that Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk will continue in their roles.

Predicted Liverpool XI: Mamardashvili; Gomez, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Jones, Mac Allister; Salah, Szoboszlai, Ngumoha; Ekitike
