Arne Slot has urged Liverpool to pursue a January transfer for a star from Real Madrid.

Real Madrid has already completed the loan transfer of Endrick Felipe to Lyon, and he may not be the only player leaving during the winter transfer window.

There is interest in several players from Xabi Alonso’s squad, and one of them could potentially join Liverpool.

Currently, Liverpool is tied with Arsenal in the Premier League. Arne Slot is understandably eager to enhance his team for the latter part of the season, and he hopes to incorporate a Real Madrid player into his lineup in the upcoming weeks.

As reported by CaughtOffside, Liverpool and Slot have a strong admiration for Rodrygo, with hopes that a structured agreement can be reached during the winter transfer window—similar to the deal that allowed Alexander Arnold to move to Spain.

Liverpool is keen on securing Rodrygo on loan for the second half of the season, with intentions to negotiate a permanent transfer in the summer.

Their interest in the Brazilian international has been longstanding, although they may encounter competition from Premier League rivals Arsenal and Manchester United.

Real Madrid’s position on Rodrygo’s departure

While Liverpool is very interested in Rodrygo, the report clarifies that Real Madrid has no intention of selling him. An exit would have been more plausible before this season, but with the 24-year-old now a crucial player for Alonso, the chances of him leaving the Bernabeu are minimal.

Rodrygo began the season in excellent form, with his partnership with Kylian Mbappe being a standout aspect for Real Madrid. However, he has faced challenges with consistency in recent weeks, leading to a strong desire to regain his form in 2026.
