Liverpool reportedly has an “agreement” in place to finalize the signing of the “magnificent” ace – Sky Sports.

It is believed that Liverpool has reached an “agreement” with Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi regarding a transfer to Anfield in 2026.

The 25-year-old has emerged as one of the Reds’ primary transfer targets this year, and they came agonizingly close to securing his signature on deadline day during the summer transfer window.

Guehi had even consented to a £35m transfer to Liverpool and successfully completed a medical examination; however, Palace determined that they lacked sufficient depth without him and did not have enough time to find a replacement at the last moment.

Now, as reported by Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol, [via Tribuna], the Premier League champions are said to have a “gentleman’s agreement” with Guehi regarding a transfer to the club.

“I’ve heard discussions suggesting he may have a gentleman’s agreement with Liverpool, indicating he will sign for them.”

Guehi remains Liverpool’s top choice for centre-back.

Guehi was the player Liverpool sought after during the summer, and there is no indication that this has changed, as the England international continues to perform impressively for Palace this season.

The defender has excelled in every aspect of his game, averaging 5.3 clearances and 2.8 aerial duels per match in the Premier League, and has received praise from former Reds left-back Stephen Warnock:

“Marc Guehi is a magnificent player. My concern for him is that I hope he still secures that move to Liverpool. He deserves to compete on a larger stage, such as Champions League football. He possesses the talent to play for a club like Liverpool.”

While a transfer in January is not entirely out of the question, it seems more probable that Palace will prefer to retain Guehi until the season concludes, even though they will lose him on a free transfer at that time.

The Eagles are still competing in Europe and may be reluctant to part with arguably their most crucial player in the middle of the season.

Liverpool must view Guehi as their best current centre-back option, and it would be a significant disappointment if they were to miss out on him.

The discussion of having an agreement in place is certainly positive. Additionally, finalizing a deal before his value potentially increases at the World Cup, attracting more clubs, would be a significant advantage.
