Liverpool Injury Update: Latest News on Alisson Becker, Jeremie Frimpong, and Giovanni Leoni’s Return Dates.

Liverpool is set to gain a significant injury advantage as they prepare to resume Premier League play.

The Reds entered the last international break of the year following a disappointing 3-0 loss to Manchester City, which left them eight points behind league leaders Arsenal.

On a day where little went in favor of the reigning Premier League champions – including a disallowed goal by Virgil van Dijk – they were at least able to see Alexander Isak return from injury.

Isak had missed the previous four matches due to a groin issue. Although he did not play at the Etihad Stadium, he has since rejoined the Swedish national team, participating in the last half hour of their 4-1 defeat to Switzerland on Saturday.

Consequently, the Merseyside team is approaching a full recovery as Arne Slot readies for Nottingham Forest’s visit to Anfield this weekend.

Here’s the latest on Liverpool’s injury situation.

Alisson Becker

Liverpool’s primary goalkeeper has been sidelined since September 30 after leaving the pitch during the 1-0 defeat to Galatasaray in the Champions League.

Alisson Becker has missed the last eight matches across all competitions and has also been absent from the two most recent Brazil national team camps.

The positive news for the Reds is that Alisson is anticipated to be fit for selection against Forest, likely taking over from Giorgi Mamardashvili in goal.

Expected return date: November 22, 2025, vs Nottingham Forest (H)

Jeremie Frimpong

Jeremie Frimpong exited the field after just 19 minutes during Liverpool’s 5-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt on October 22 and has been unavailable since.

Initial assessments suggested that the summer recruit could be out for up to six weeks, indicating he should be ready for selection again in the first week of December.

During the pre-Man City press conference, Slot provided an update regarding the Dutch player: “Alisson is definitely out, and I anticipate that Jeremie [Frimpong] will return after the international break since we have matches scheduled from November through March!

“However, I do not expect Jeremie to be completely fit for the Forest match, but we are hopeful about Alisson’s return.”

Expected return date: December 2025

Giovanni Leoni

Liverpool defender Giovanni Leoni is set to miss a year due to a severe knee injury.

The 18-year-old center-back sustained the injury during his debut at Anfield against Championship team Southampton in the third round of the Carabao Cup, landing awkwardly after a late challenge in the 2-1 victory.

He received on-field treatment and was later taken off on a stretcher, with further examinations confirming an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

Slot has recently stated that Leoni will be sidelined for approximately a year due to his torn ACL.

“He’s certainly not in a good situation,” the Reds manager remarked. “He has torn his ACL, which will keep him out for about a year.

“At such a young age, moving to a new country, and performing well in your first match, it’s tough to find the positives. You always strive to focus on the bright side, and the fact remains that he is still very young.

“He has many years ahead of him after he recovers from such a serious injury.”

Expected return date: Late 2026
