William Saliba has provided an update regarding his future with Arsenal amidst speculation linking him to Real Madrid.

Amid rumors connecting him to Real Madrid, William Saliba has shared insights about his future with Arsenal.

The French defender expressed his affection for playing at Arsenal but indicated that he is not in a hurry to discuss a new contract.

Saliba has had another impressive season, solidifying his reputation as a key player in the Gunners’ defense, contributing to a campaign that may culminate in Champions League success.

Saliba, whose contract runs until 2027 alongside his defensive partner Gabriel Magalhaes, has not yet engaged in discussions about an extension.

This has led to interest from Real Madrid in acquiring the 23-year-old. Arsenal must be cautious about the possibility of losing such a vital player without compensation in two years, and incoming sporting director Andrea Berta will likely prioritize addressing Saliba’s contract situation upon officially starting his role.

Ahead of the Champions League last 16 second leg against PSV, Saliba stated, “I am really happy here.

“I want to continue here. There is no rush for talks about a new deal; I am content.”

With Arsenal almost assured of advancing to the quarter-finals after a commanding 7-1 victory against their Dutch rivals, it remains uncertain whether Saliba will be rested for the upcoming match.

When asked about the potential for giving opportunities to younger players like Nathan Butler-Oyedeji, manager Mikel Arteta responded, “We have done that when possible, and it’s always beneficial as they contribute significantly to the team.

“Whenever we can show our appreciation and trust in them by giving minutes, we will.”

Additionally, Ben White may be set to make his first start since undergoing knee surgery in November.

Jurrien Timber has certainly made a mark during White’s absence; however, Arsenal has felt the absence of the versatile defender, who has been a key player for Arteta’s squad in recent seasons.

Arteta acknowledged, “The synergy we had on the right flank with him, Bukayo, and Martin was remarkable and posed a significant threat to our opponents; we have missed that connection.”

He continued, “It’s important to note that Jurrien has also been outstanding in his performances and has shown great consistency. Now, we have another option available, which is beneficial.”

Regarding White’s readiness to return to the starting lineup, the Arsenal manager stated, “We need to manage his situation carefully, as he is still dealing with some load-related issues.”

“We are being very cautious to ensure that when he returns, he can sustain his performance level without any setbacks. However, I believe he is now in a good position to start.”
