Liverpool XI vs Manchester United: confirmed lineup, team news, and the latest on injuries for the Premier League.

Arne Slot has received positive news regarding injuries to two key players, although one will still be unavailable.

Liverpool anticipates a significant injury boost today, as both Ryan Gravenberch and Ibrahima Konate are expected to be fit to play against Manchester United.

A hamstring issue led to Dutch midfielder Gravenberch being substituted at halftime during his country’s victory over Finland last weekend as a precautionary measure.

French defender Konate, one of only three senior center-backs available to Arne Slot, had to leave the field during the 2-1 defeat to Chelsea two weeks ago. He subsequently departed from his national team camp early due to a thigh injury.

Slot disclosed on Friday that Gravenberch is “completely fit,” while Konate was “expected to train” that day, indicating that both players should be available to start against United on Sunday.

This is a significant advantage for the Reds, who suffered three consecutive defeats before the October international break, allowing Arsenal to overtake them at the top of the Premier League.

However, the Merseysiders will be without Alisson for at least “this weekend and next week,” Slot mentioned, as the Brazilian has yet to resume training while recovering from his own hamstring injury.

Consequently, Liverpool’s first-choice goalkeeper will miss the midweek match against Eintracht Frankfurt and is likely to be absent for next Saturday’s visit to Brentford, in addition to this weekend’s game against United.

Giorgi Mamardashvili will continue to fill in after making his Premier League debut before the break.

In other defensive news, Milos Kerkez will be eager to retain his position at left-back, especially considering a few lackluster performances from Andy Robertson, but the more pressing question is who Slot will select for the right-back position.

Jeremie Frimpong was signed for a substantial fee this summer but has only made one Premier League start, with Conor Bradley and even Dominik Szoboszlai often being favored at right-back.

Nonetheless, the Dutchman had a rejuvenating international break and may be given an opportunity to start anew, which would allow Szoboszlai to return to midfield alongside Gravenberch.

Florian Wirtz is expected to take his place in the center of the attacking midfield trio, suggesting that Alexis Mac Allister might be left out, while Mohamed Salah is a guaranteed starter on the right wing.

Salah has experienced an unusually slow beginning to the season, yet he managed to score twice for his national team during the international break. He has recorded more goal contributions against United – 13 goals and six assists in 15 matches – than any other player in the history of the Premier League.

On the other hand, Cody Gakpo was involved in just four goals for the Netherlands and may feel unjustly treated if he finds himself on the bench this Sunday after netting Liverpool’s sole goal against Chelsea in their last match.

Nevertheless, this presents a valuable opportunity for Slot to keep experimenting with a forward line that features both Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak, which could see the former take Gakpo’s position on the left wing from the outset.

However, if Ekitike is positioned up front and Isak is omitted from the starting eleven, Gakpo is likely to retain his spot.

Liverpool’s predicted starting XI (4-2-3-1): Mamardashvili; Frimpong, Konate, Van Dijk, Kerkez; Szoboszlai, Gravenberch; Salah, Wirtz, Ekitike; Isak
