Talks opened: Liverpool fans will be on red alert after evening Sky Sports update…

Discussions have commenced: Liverpool supporters should be alert following the latest update from Sky Sports.

Nico Schlotterbeck has reportedly been the focus of an official inquiry from Bayern Munich.

Florian Plettenberg now asserts that the Bundesliga club has shown interest.

This comes after an earlier report that stated Liverpool, who have been heavily associated with the Dortmund defender, do not intend to acquire the player during the January transfer window.

Could Liverpool be preparing for a January acquisition of Borussia Dortmund’s Nico Schlotterbeck?

Is this transfer for Liverpool effectively over?

As per the Sky Germany journalist, Liverpool plans to remain cautious – at least regarding the centre-back linked with Bayern.

This is somewhat unexpected considering Giovanni Leoni’s long-term injury (ACL), not to mention Joe Gomez’s well-known injury issues.

Ibrahima Konate has also contributed to the situation with his inconsistent start to the 2025/26 season, raising significant concerns about the future of Liverpool’s defense.

Speculation connecting Liverpool to Nico #Schlotterbeck appears to be unfounded.

There are no definitive plans for a #LFC move for Schlotterbeck in the upcoming two transfer windows.

Borussia Dortmund aims to extend his contract beyond 2027. FC Bayern is interested. He is a top defender.

To be completely honest, we are not entirely convinced that Liverpool is completely out of the running.

Reports suggest that Liverpool has shown admiration for Schlotterbeck as a potential successor to Virgil van Dijk.

Furthermore, sources from Germany’s Empire of the Kop have indicated that the Bundesliga centre-back would be open to an offer from the Premier League champions.

Thus, there is at least some mutual interest.

Will Bayern outpace Liverpool in securing Nico Schlotterbeck?

The German press has lavished praise on the 25-year-old. Meanwhile, reports have circulated regarding Liverpool’s increasing interest in the BVB star and the possibility of a mid-season transfer.

However, for now, it appears that FC Bayern has taken the lead.

We continue to believe that this transfer is unlikely to be finalized before the summer transfer window.

The Bundesliga leaders adhered to a strict loans-only policy during the previous summer market, making it difficult to envision them presenting a bid exceeding £60m in January. In fact, a report from Sky Sports Switzerland indicated that the player was valued at £60m back in March of this year.

Conversely, Liverpool’s financial resources have not been entirely exhausted, despite their summer activities.

Stay tuned to this story as we near the January transfer window.
