Liverpool has reportedly opened negotiations to sign a striker whose release clause is set at £58 million, according to exclusive sources.

Liverpool have initiated discussions to acquire striker Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig, whose release clause is set at £58 million.

According to TBR Football, Liverpool has inquired about the potential signing of Sesko, who is currently weighing his options for his next move.

It is reported that Sesko has previously indicated a preference for a transfer to London, with Arsenal and Chelsea leading the pursuit for his services.

Nonetheless, several other Premier League teams, including Manchester United, Newcastle, and Aston Villa, are also in contention for the 21-year-old forward.

Arne Slot may look to secure a new striker next summer, especially with Darwin Nunez considering a departure from Anfield, making Sesko a prime target.

RB Leipzig is not insisting on the full payment of Sesko’s release clause.

TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey has learned that there is a gentleman’s agreement between Sesko and RB Leipzig, allowing the club to facilitate a transfer if their financial expectations are met.

Sources from RB Leipzig have clarified that while Sesko’s release clause is approximately £58 million—potentially increasing based on his and the club’s performance—they will not require the full amount upfront if a suitable overall deal is reached.

While Arsenal and Chelsea are currently leading the race for the striker, TBR Football has revealed that Liverpool has made inquiries in recent weeks and is maintaining open lines of communication with various clubs.

The addition of an elite striker like Sesko could be the key to making Liverpool a formidable force.

The current Premier League title race appears to be largely settled, and the thought of Liverpool acquiring a prolific goal scorer like Sesko is indeed daunting.

The 21-year-old has scored 17 goals in 34 appearances, a remarkable achievement given his age and the fact that he is not part of a top-tier team.
