One player who did not participate in the match at Newcastle, even though he traveled to the north east, was Ethan Nwaneri, as the 18-year-old was excluded from the matchday squad.

Regarding his exclusion, Arteta commented: “I spoke with all the players and we held a meeting specifically addressing that and the various scenarios we will encounter throughout the season.

“Some players will start, others will finish the game, some will be on the bench and not participate, and unfortunately, some will be left out of the squad due to the Premier League’s restrictions on squad numbers.

“At times, we need to travel with additional players because unforeseen circumstances can arise; someone might fall ill or we may have uncertainties about a player’s availability for the next match, and regrettably, we must prepare for that.

“However, the attitude of every player has been commendable, as we have communicated our feelings about the situation, and they understand it personally. They will have opportunities to play.”

Mikel Arteta provides an update on Noni Madueke’s injury as new scan results are disclosed.

Arsenal’s £48.5 million summer acquisition, Noni Madueke, had an impressive start to the season with his new team before he was forced to leave the pitch due to injury during the 1-1 draw against Manchester City.

Arsenal is currently awaiting further details regarding Noni Madueke’s injury, as the England international is still waiting for a second scan on the knee injury he incurred during the match against Manchester City.

The £48.5 million summer signing was substituted at half-time during the draw with City and had his first scan on the issue last week.

Arsenal hopes he can avoid an extended absence, although it has been indicated that he might miss the next two months.

Madueke watched Arsenal’s comeback victory over Newcastle from home on Sunday as he continues his recovery, sharing on Instagram and praising match-winner Gabriel as a “monsterrrrr” following his last-minute goal that secured all three points.

However, Gunners manager Arteta acknowledges that the club is still uncertain about when the former Chelsea winger Madueke will be able to return to the field.

“He hasn’t had a [second] scan yet, so he needs to wait a little longer with the brace and everything,” the Spaniard stated, prior to Wednesday night’s Champions League clash with Olympiacos.

“So he’s still in a phase where everything is highly protective, and once he comes out of that and has the scan, we’ll have more clarity on the situation.”

Arteta’s squad faces the Greek champions following their victory at St James’ Park, a performance that has left the Spaniard feeling very positive.

“That creates momentum and energy, and in the end, we got what we deserved,” he remarked.

“But it was achieved in a special way, and now we need to harness that momentum and energy to go out tomorrow and play with the same quality, intensity, and effectiveness to defeat Olympiacos.
