Liverpool possible XI vs Burnley, Arne Slot makes huge £241m decision as Conor Bradley returns…
Liverpool’s potential lineup against Burnley sees Arne Slot making a significant £241m decision with Conor Bradley making his return.
Following the international break, Liverpool is set to resume Premier League play as Arne Slot’s team gears up to take on Burnley.
The Reds will head to Turf Moor on Sunday, aiming to maintain their flawless Premier League record against teams newly promoted to the league.
Despite Slot announcing in his pre-match press conference on Friday that Curtis Jones will be unavailable for the match, most of his squad has returned to the AXA Training Centre without any injuries after the international break.
With the summer transfer window now closed and the squad finalized ahead of a busy domestic and European campaign, here’s a look at how Liverpool might line up against Burnley.
Predicted Liverpool XI vs Burnley
Goalkeeper: The goalkeeper position at Anfield is nearly guaranteed, with Alisson Becker expected to keep his place at Turf Moor.
Defence: Jeremie Frimpong has returned from injury during the international break and is likely to compete for his starting position from the opening day victory over Bournemouth.
However, Conor Bradley has impressed for Northern Ireland, gaining valuable playing time for his country after a minor injury setback, and he is expected to surpass Frimpong for his first start of the season.
Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate are anticipated to continue their central defensive partnership, with the standout Milos Kerkez rounding out the backline in Lancashire.
Midfield: Alexis Mac Allister played his first full 90 minutes since April in the defeat against Ecuador on Wednesday. While Slot will be relieved that the Argentine did not worsen his injury, he faces a selection challenge in central midfield.
Ryan Gravenberch should be among the first names on the team sheet, but the other two midfield positions remain open for discussion.
Paul Merson proposed that Slot should consider leaving Florian Wirtz out of the lineup on Sunday; however, the German international deserves to keep his spot in the starting eleven – the Reds’ £116 million asset performed exceptionally well for his country in the last match.
Hungary’s head coach Marco Rossi praised Dominik Szoboszlai, calling him “one of the best in the world” in the role of a deep-lying midfielder. Given his outstanding start to the Premier League season, it seems unlikely that Slot will bench the number eight.
Forwards: Mohamed Salah is another player who should remain a fixture in the starting lineup for the foreseeable future.
Although the Egyptian has had a sluggish beginning, fans believe it’s just a matter of time before he finds his rhythm.
TBR Football has reported that Liverpool is impressed with Alexander Isak after the Swedish player attended training for the first time since his £125 million transfer from Newcastle.
Nonetheless, Slot has indicated that it will take some time before Isak is prepared to start matches at Anfield; thus, Hugo Ekitike is anticipated to spearhead the attack at Turf Moor.
With the situation regarding his two new center-forwards clarified, Slot is likely to position Cody Gakpo on the left wing to finalize his Liverpool starting XI.
Arne Slot recognizes the necessity for Liverpool to make a strong start against Burnley.
The Reds travel to Turf Moor as clear favorites to secure all three points. Liverpool has triumphed in their last five encounters at Burnley, conceding only once.
However, Slot is aware of the challenges this trip presents for his team and mentioned in his pre-match press conference that he believes scoring an early goal will be crucial for securing a win.
“To execute it as effectively as possible, the final third primarily relies on the performance of the wingers. Since they operate on the flanks, the greater the threat they pose, the more opportunities we will create.
“An early goal typically benefits you in a match like this. If you concede, it energizes the opposing team even more. As always, we’re counting on our attackers to make a significant impact.”
