Slot ready to ‘sanction’ more exits as ‘big move’ for striker Isak continues. Liverpool willing to let three more stars leave as summer transfer overhaul continues…
Arne Slot is prepared to approve additional exits as the significant move for striker Alexander Isak progresses.
Liverpool is open to allowing three more players to depart as the summer transfer revamp continues.
Liverpool is set to evaluate two more departures following the presentation of a Saudi Arabia ‘project’ and the announcement of a financial figure.
Liverpool transfer update: Arne Slot is ready to authorize further exits as the major move for Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak unfolds.
Reports indicate that Liverpool is willing to let go of Luca Stephenson, James McConnell, and Lewis Koumas due to interest from various clubs.
The Reds are scheduled to face Athletic Bilbao twice on Monday, with Arne Slot eager to prepare his team for the upcoming match against Crystal Palace in the Community Shield on August 10.
New signings Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike made a strong impression when Liverpool defeated Yokohama F. Marinos 3-1 on Wednesday, although they may not be the only high-profile signings at Anfield this summer.
The club reportedly had a bid exceeding £100 million for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak turned down, and a subsequent offer could push the club’s spending this transfer window beyond the £400 million threshold.
It would not be unexpected for Isak’s potential signing to prompt Liverpool to recover some of their spending through player sales, and The Mirror suggests that Stephenson, McConnell, and Koumas are drawing considerable interest from Championship teams and international clubs.
Which players might leave Liverpool this summer to finance Slot’s bid for Isak?
Stephenson has shown promise during Liverpool’s pre-season, yet he has yet to make an appearance in the Premier League, while McConnell and Koumas have collectively played just four minutes for the Reds in the top division.
It seems unlikely that any of the three will be sold for substantial fees, although Liverpool does have several senior players who could generate funds.
Luis Diaz was transferred to Bayern Munich for a fee exceeding £60 million, and this sale would have certainly bolstered the Reds’ transfer budget for Isak.
The current number nine, Darwin Nunez, has frequently been associated with a potential departure from Anfield, with Al-Hilal mentioned as a likely destination for the forward.
Forward Harvey Elliott is almost certain to seek a move for more consistent playing time, particularly if he aims to secure a spot in the England squad for the 2026 World Cup.
What does the future hold for Liverpool’s team?
Slot has occasionally been criticized for his perceived hesitance to incorporate young talents into his starting lineup – 10 players featured in at least 28 league matches last season – but it is crucial to consider that the Dutch manager was still acclimating to a new team and league, which may have led him to avoid risking young players.
With a season now behind him at Anfield, it is clear that players like Trey Nyoni could receive playing time in midfield, especially with the 18-year-old performing well during pre-season.
Left-winger Rio Ngumoha, who will not turn 17 until August 29, has already shown his ability to influence the game in the attacking third, and supporters can anticipate that the teenager will play a significant role in the club’s long-term plans.
