£75,000-a-week player has agreed to join Newcastle, with the deal potentially finalized this week – report

Tottenham Hotspur is making strides in their pursuit of Sandro Tonali, having reached a significant agreement with the midfielder, as per reports from Italy.

Spurs have been heavily linked to the Newcastle United midfielder this summer, having had an initial £75million offer turned down by the Magpies earlier this month.

GIVEMESPORT reports that Tottenham intends to present an enhanced offer, but Newcastle is seeking a total package of £100million for the Italian to approve the transfer.

Sky Sports Italy has also indicated that Tonali has already ‘given his consent’ to Spurs, suggesting that the Lilywhites have made a notable advancement in negotiations.

Spurs Finalize Terms with Tonali

As reported by the Italian outlet Sport Mediaset, Tonali has accepted a six-year contract with Tottenham, valued at €12million annually (£200,000-a-week), inclusive of bonuses. However, their reporter Orazio Accomando noted that an agreement on the transfer fee between Newcastle and Spurs is still pending, although the north London club aims to finalize the deal this week.

It is reported that Tonali currently earns £8million a year at Newcastle, meaning he would receive a substantial salary increase at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Spurs now need to conclude an agreement with Newcastle regarding the transfer fee and payment structure. GIVEMESPORT understands that Tottenham is prepared to raise their offer to £85million, with possible add-ons, which could persuade Newcastle to agree to the sale.

The north London club is facing competition for Tonali’s signature, with Manchester City also reportedly interested in the 26-year-old, despite their agreement with Nottingham Forest to acquire Elliot Anderson for £116million plus add-ons.
