Viktor Gyokeres has reached a verbal agreement with Arsenal amid ongoing discussions regarding Benjamin Sesko’s transfer.

The truth behind Viktor Gyokeres’ verbal agreement for a transfer to Arsenal comes to light amidst negotiations for Benjamin Sesko.

The latest updates on Arsenal’s transfer activities include news about two strikers as the summer transfer window is set to open on Sunday, June 1.

Reports indicate that Arsenal is making progress in negotiations for Benjamin Sesko, even after submitting an offer for Viktor Gyokeres following a meeting in Lisbon last week.

According to the Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manha, a meeting occurred between Gyokeres’ agent, Hasan Cetinkaya, and representatives from Arsenal.

Officials from the north London club were present in Lisbon for the Women’s Champions League final on Saturday at Sporting’s Jose Alvalade Stadium, where the Gunners secured a 1-0 victory against Barcelona.

It is reported that club officials made an offer to Cetinkaya for Gyokeres.

The report further states that his agent is prepared to present an official proposal to Sporting on behalf of Arsenal, with the offer estimated at around €70 million (£59 million), plus a performance-based fee.

This additional payment would likely be contingent on Gyokeres’ performance and/or the team’s future success.

However, this week, Arsenal’s focus seems to have shifted towards RB Leipzig striker Sesko. Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri has provided a new update regarding the 22-year-old.

In a post on X, he noted that Arsenal has initiated negotiations with Leipzig concerning Sesko, as they strive to make headway on multiple fronts to prevent disappointment should discussions falter.

It is also mentioned that Sesko has not yet reached a personal agreement with the north London club, while it is emphasized that Gyokeres has ‘already’ given his verbal consent to join Mikel Arteta’s team.

Sesko could potentially be the striker to finally address Arsenal’s scoring challenges.

Despite the Gunners netting 69 goals in 38 Premier League matches during the 2024/25 season, no single player achieved double-digit goals.

Arsenal, who have been admirers of Sesko for a long time, expressed interest in acquiring the striker a year ago, but the transfer did not go through.

Now, a year later, there is optimism that he will be part of Arsenal’s 25-man roster for the 2025/26 season.
