Tottenham facing rare rejection with £40m star ready to choose Newcastle…

They explained: ‘They (Newcastle) remain keen on James Trafford, who is another player whose future is set to be resolved once his World Cup duties are at an end.

‘Trafford, who is the third-choice goalkeeper in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad, has accepted he will have to leave Manchester City this summer to secure regular first-team football.

‘He turned down the chance to join Newcastle last summer, instead heading to City from Burnley, but is believed to be receptive to the idea of heading to Tyneside ahead of the start of next season if the financial elements of a deal can be successfully agreed.

‘Ipswich Town are set to make a formal offer for Nick Pope, which could lead to the goalkeeper who finished last season in Newcastle’s starting side heading to Portman Road.’

Tottenham faces an unusual setback as a £40m star appears inclined to choose Newcastle.

Reports suggest that Spurs may miss out on a transfer target, as he is now considering a move to Newcastle instead.

This summer, Tottenham is investing heavily and providing significant support to Roberto De Zerbi. The urgent need for experience and leadership has been addressed with the acquisitions of three seasoned free agents – Martin Dubravka, Andy Robertson, and Marcos Senesi.

A total of £237m has been allocated for established Premier League players in their prime, with Jan Paul van Hecke, Mateus Fernandes, and now Sandro Tonali joining the squad.

However, the excitement is far from over, as Spurs are looking to add one or possibly two new wingers.

Savinho is their primary target, but Rafael Leao and Cody Gakpo are also under consideration.

Additionally, Savinho is not the only Manchester City player on Tottenham’s radar, as The Independent has recently reported that Spurs are actively pursuing James Trafford.

Guglielmo Vicario is anticipated to return to Serie A, leaving Spurs with Antonin Kinsky, Dubravka, and Brandon Austin as their options in goal.

De Zerbi has faith in Kinsky, but the report emphasizes that an upgrade in the form of Trafford could be on the horizon.

Manchester City is prepared to part ways with the 23-year-old England international, who was quickly overshadowed by Gianluigi Donnarumma last summer.

Furthermore, Man City has just finalized the return of Pierce Charles from Sheffield Wednesday, which clears the path for Trafford’s departure.

James Trafford is reportedly ‘open’ to the idea of joining Newcastle.

Our sources at TEAMtalk indicate that a deal with City could be reached for approximately £40m. However, while Tottenham is making efforts, they may lose out to Newcastle, who are also in search of a new starting goalkeeper.

According to the Northern Echo, Trafford is now ‘open’ to the opportunity of joining the Magpies, where he would instantly become their new No 1.
