Romano: Liverpool ‘Negotiating Deal’ to Acquire ‘Elite’ Star Alongside Guehi.

Liverpool is in the process of negotiating a deal to sign Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike this summer, as reported by journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The Premier League champions have identified the talented French forward as a potential addition to Arne Slot’s attacking lineup and are having internal discussions regarding Ekitike’s potential transfer.

Liverpool aims to secure a new striker for their title-winning team, especially as Darwin Nunez appears likely to leave due to significant interest from Serie A champions Napoli.

The departure of the Uruguayan is expected to create space and generate additional funds for a new number nine, with Ekitike now coming into focus following his breakout season in Germany.

Awaiting developments in Nunez’s transfer situation.

Romano, during a segment on his YouTube channel, disclosed that Liverpool has been discussing the possibility of incorporating Ekitike into their squad and is working towards finalizing a summer deal:

“I have mentioned multiple times how Liverpool is pursuing this deal, and how they are contemplating the addition of Hugo Ekitike to their roster.

“Yes, the plan for Liverpool is to secure another striker, and they are waiting to see what unfolds with Darwin Nunez.”

Ekitike, who has been lauded as ‘elite’, made a permanent move to Frankfurt from Paris Saint-Germain last summer and had a remarkable Bundesliga season, netting 15 goals and providing eight assists in 33 matches.

There are indications that Frankfurt might accept a fee in the range of £68m to £76m this summer, which is lower than the German club’s original asking price of £84m.

Liverpool has invested nearly £200m on three new players this summer, bringing in Bayer Leverkusen duo Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz, along with Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez.

The Reds are also looking to recruit a new centre-back amid uncertainties regarding Ibrahima Konate’s future, with Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi currently in negotiations to join.
