PSG respond to first Liverpool offer for Bradley Barcola as ‘big factor’ emerges…

French champions Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly poised to decline Liverpool’s initial offer for Bradley Barcola.

The Reds have already secured one new winger this summer, with Spain’s Victor Munoz arriving from Osasuna for approximately €40 million.

Liverpool aims to acquire another winger to compensate for the departure of Mohamed Salah, who left at the end of the season, while Cody Gakpo is attracting interest from Tottenham.

Yan Diomande was Liverpool’s primary target to enhance their wide positions, but the RB Leipzig winger is now expected to join La Liga powerhouse Real Madrid.

Consequently, Liverpool has shifted its focus entirely towards negotiating a deal for Barcola from PSG, as the France international is highly sought after this summer.

Football Insider journalist Pete O’Rourke recently indicated that the challenge for Liverpool lies in meeting PSG’s £120 million asking price.

O’Rourke stated: “The issue is reaching an agreement on a fee with PSG. Clearly, PSG is holding out for a substantial sum, approximately £120 million for Barcola. Liverpool is reluctant to pay that amount. They are hoping to secure him for under £100 million, potentially with add-ons and incentives to align the deal closer to PSG’s valuation.

“This is an ongoing negotiation. There is optimism from Liverpool’s perspective that an agreement can be reached, especially now that they have received positive signals from the player’s camp indicating his willingness to move to Anfield, which is a significant factor in this situation.”

Will PSG reject Liverpool’s initial bid?

Football Insider has now reported that PSG ‘are set to turn down Liverpool’s first offer’ for Barcola, as the Reds are eager to finalize a fee closer to £100 million.

O’Rourke mentioned in the latest update from Football Insider: “Discussions will continue between Liverpool and PSG, as they are preparing to make an initial offer. It is likely that this bid will be rejected, but I anticipate ongoing talks between the two clubs to explore the possibility of reaching an agreement.

“Furthermore, if PSG successfully acquires Magnes Akliouche from Monaco, it could potentially create the opportunity for them to allow Barcola to leave.”

Fabrizio Romano provided an update regarding a possible transfer of Barcola to Liverpool on Sunday, stating: “Next week, new discussions are set to take place between Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain concerning Bradley Barcola. This development is not unexpected.

“Liverpool is determined to pursue Barcola. The time has come for the club to take action, as the player, Barcola, is eager to join Liverpool.

“Barcola is very much interested in being part of the Liverpool project. Conversations will carry on into next week. However, I sense that this will not be resolved quickly, so I do not anticipate a transfer occurring on Monday or Tuesday.

“There remains work to be done between Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain. Thus, there is a chance this could turn into a lengthy saga during the summer transfer window, depending on Liverpool’s willingness to invest.

“Paris Saint-Germain is open to negotiations, but their terms are quite steep. Therefore, discussions regarding Barcola will proceed, but it is important to remember that the player is keen on moving to Liverpool, which views Barcola as their primary target.
