Significant news for FSG: “Incredible” £77.7m Premier League star aims to join Liverpool this summer.

Tottenham’s center-back Micky van de Ven is reportedly eager to finalize a transfer to Liverpool during the summer transfer window.

The Reds urgently need a new center-back to enhance squad depth immediately and to secure strong options for the future after Virgil van Dijk departs.

While that departure is not expected soon, the Dutch defender requires careful management as he approaches his 35th birthday this summer.

As per TEAMtalk, lifelong Liverpool supporter Van de Ven is keen to secure a move to Anfield at the season’s conclusion, especially as Spurs strive to stay in the Premier League:

“A self-identified Reds fan with family ties to the club, Van de Ven would prioritize Anfield over most other options. Sources indicate he would select Liverpool over competitors like Manchester United without hesitation if both clubs make formal offers.”

The report further mentions that Liverpool and FSG are “very interested” in acquiring Van de Ven, who could be valued at up to £77.7m, but possibly as low as £51.8m. His future is “deeply connected to Spurs’ final league standing” this season.

Micky van de Ven is an excellent defender, but should injuries be a concern?

There is no doubt about Van de Ven’s talent as a high-caliber defender, with former Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou endorsing him to excel as a left-back for the Netherlands in this summer’s World Cup:

“He’s exceptional. He could reach any level he desires. Watch him at the World Cup; I believe they’ll utilize him at left-back, and he’ll be outstanding. Once he gets into his rhythm, he’s technically proficient, and his ground coverage is remarkable. You could match him against any striker globally, without fear of him being outmuscled or outrun.”

The only drawback regarding Van de Ven is his somewhat injury-prone history, and Liverpool cannot risk signing a player with availability issues.

While it poses some risk, it is not a significant concern, as the advantages far surpass the disadvantages when considering the 25-year-old, who possesses remarkable speed, strength, and adaptability.
