Liverpool starter ‘prefers to join PSG rather than signing a new deal, as the situation surrounding a fourth major exit escalates…

Liverpool faces the potential departure of another key player from Arne Slot’s starting lineup this summer, as reports suggest that PSG may once again outmaneuver Liverpool in the transfer market.
A Liverpool first-team player appears to prefer a transfer to PSG rather than signing a new deal, as the situation surrounding a fourth major exit escalates.
Reports indicate that a Liverpool starter is inclined to join PSG rather than negotiate a new contract, as the momentum for a fourth critical departure builds.
Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, and Mohamed Salah are all on track to leave Liverpool as free agents this summer.
The club has extended contract offers to all three, but none have yet agreed to new terms.
The trio participated in both of Liverpool’s recent Round of 16 matches against PSG, but were unable to prevent Luis Enrique’s team from eliminating the Reds.
According to the latest update from SportsZone, PSG may have the upper hand over Liverpool in the pursuit of Ibrahima Konate, who is reportedly inclined to join the French club.
At 25 years old and hailing from Paris, Konate is entering the prime of his career.
The report suggests that his most promising years may lie in Paris rather than at Anfield, which would be a significant setback for Arne Slot.
SportsZone noted that PSG has gained an advantage over Liverpool in the negotiations regarding Konate.
In light of the possibility of losing both Van Dijk and Konate in the same summer, Liverpool is expected to present a new contract offer to Konate.
Currently, Konate’s contract runs until the summer of 2026.
If it becomes evident that he is solely interested in PSG, selling him this summer could be a strategic move to prevent another player leaving on a free transfer.
Losing Konate would be a significant setback and would raise concerns about the effectiveness of sporting director Richard Hughes, who has yet to secure new contracts for key players like Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk, or Salah.
Additionally, just a few months ago in December, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano indicated that Konate’s contract extension with Liverpool was nearly finalized.
“I can confirm that discussions regarding Konate are in the final stages,” Romano stated on his YouTube channel. “An agreement is almost reached, and Konate is expected to extend his contract with Liverpool.”
Since then, updates regarding Konate’s re-signing have been scarce, and reports suggest that PSG is now in a strong position to bring the center-back back to France.
