A Liverpool journalist anticipates five signings as key positions and targets are outlined.

According to a journalist from Merseyside, Liverpool is expected to make up to five new signings this summer, aiming to strengthen several crucial areas.

Despite the confirmation of new contracts for Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, the transfer market is set to be quite active for Liverpool.

Following only one new signing during Arne Slot’s initial two transfer windows, which was the underutilized Federico Chiesa, the expectation is that ‘four or five new signings will arrive.’

This perspective comes from Lewis Steele of the Mail, who notes that the club is looking for a new centre-back, left-back, midfielder, and striker.

Sky Sports has identified left-back as a ‘priority position’ alongside a striker and a winger, with a right-back also potentially being pursued, in addition to a new midfielder and a left-footed centre-back.

Milos Kerkez and Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth are the main targets for left-back and centre-back positions, while Antoine Semenyo is among those linked to enhance the attacking options.

Notably, Steele has also mentioned Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite in relation to strengthening Slot’s defensive lineup.

It seems that the left-back position will be the first to be addressed, with the pursuit of Hungary international Kerkez being the most reported at this time.

Although Real Madrid and Manchester City have shown interest in the 21-year-old, talkSPORT’s Alex Crook, a reliable source regarding Bournemouth, asserts that Liverpool is ‘well ahead in the race.’

Crook indicates that the Reds ‘remain front-runners’ and that ‘sources have downplayed claims that Manchester City is poised to make a move.’

Kerkez is expected to be available for approximately £45 million and would likely serve as a replacement for Kostas Tsimikas, while Andy Robertson’s workload is anticipated to lessen as he takes on a more experienced backup role.

Tsimikas is reportedly attracting interest from several Premier League clubs, although there are no current indications regarding his future.

According to Sky Sports, Kerkez is anticipated to decide on his future at the season’s conclusion, expressing a desire to remain a key first-team player even if he transitions to a larger club.

Concerns persist regarding 12 players, with Liverpool still likely to lose Trent Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer, despite recent assertions that they have not given up hope of their vice-captain signing a new contract.

Darwin Nunez is also expected to depart, while Bournemouth shows interest in the trio of Caoimhin Kelleher, Harvey Elliott, and Ben Doak.

Additionally, uncertainties surround the futures of Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, Federico Chiesa, Joe Gomez, Jarell Quansah, Wataru Endo, and Stefan Bajcetic.

Goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili is already confirmed to join Liverpool this summer, with a £29 million transfer from Valencia finalized last year.
