Liverpool is reportedly interested in acquiring a £50 million star ahead of Arsenal, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Among the trio of Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, it appears that Van Dijk is the most likely to remain at Liverpool, despite concerns regarding their contractual situations.

However, given his age, the club must consider future replacements.

Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen has emerged as a potential target for Liverpool this summer, and reports indicate that Ajax Amsterdam’s Jorrel Hato is also on their radar.

Arsenal has shown interest in the 18-year-old’s talent, and Real Madrid has been monitoring him as well.

Romano emphasized the importance of securing a central defender for Liverpool and confirmed their interest in both Hato and Huijsen.

He noted that the club intends to scout Hato further this season. It was previously reported that Ajax might be prepared to part with him for around £50 million.

Huijsen may be a better fit for Liverpool than Hato. If Van Dijk were to extend his contract, it is unlikely he would remain at the club for more than a couple of years at his current level.

Therefore, Liverpool needs a player who can step into the first team when needed. Given Hato’s youth and relative inexperience, it raises questions about his readiness for such a challenge in the Premier League.

In contrast, Dean Huijsen has had an impressive breakout season, establishing himself among the top defenders in the league.

Additionally, his release clause of £55 million is only slightly higher than Ajax’s asking price for Hato, making it a financially viable option for Liverpool as well.
