Liverpool considering a record-breaking acquisition of the extraordinary Bayern Munich superstar…
Reports suggest that Liverpool is considering making a record-breaking move for a highly talented player from Bayern Munich.
This potential transfer would require the club to pay a fee that surpasses any previous signings. However, their rivals Manchester City may also be interested in swooping in for the player.
There have been ongoing speculations about the future of Luis Diaz, with Barcelona showing interest in signing the Colombian international.
Recent reports suggest that Liverpool may be willing to let Diaz go for a reduced fee.
Even if Diaz remains at Anfield, trusted journalist David Ornstein has revealed that Arne Slot’s team is contemplating adding reinforcements to their forward line, with a particular focus on the wings.
One player who has caught the attention during the early stages of Euro 2024 is Jamal Musiala, the talented German midfielder from Bayern Munich.
Liverpool are reportedly contemplating a groundbreaking move for the 21-year-old prodigy, as per a report by the Mirror.
The report suggests that Liverpool’s fascination with Musiala has intensified following his impressive performance, scoring two goals, for the German national team during Euro 2024.
While Liverpool already held a strong admiration for Musiala, they are now rumored to be seriously contemplating taking action and initiating official negotiations.
BBC Sport anchor, Gary Lineker, is one pundit who would undoubtedly support Liverpool’s potential swoop for the talented youngster.
In a recent interview on the Rest is Football podcast, the former England striker expressed his admiration for Germany’s talented player, Musiala, stating, “We all know that Musiala is an incredible talent, but his sharpness on the field is truly magical.”
The question arises whether Bayern Munich will be willing to sell Musiala. It comes as no surprise that Bayern is extremely reluctant to part ways with such a promising young superstar like Musiala.
However, there might be a glimmer of hope for Liverpool due to the player’s contract situation. Musiala declined a new contract offer in March, and now he only has two years remaining on his current deal.
Despite Bayern’s efforts to secure Musiala’s long-term future at the club, there are suggestions from the Mirror that he is interested in a move to the Premier League.
Moreover, Sky Germany has previously suggested that Bayern needs to put in effort to convince Musiala that they are the club that can fulfill his ambitious goals.
Last season, Bayern experienced their first season without winning any trophies in over ten years.
Despite Vincent Kompany suffering relegation with Burnley last season, Bayern has taken a gamble by appointing him as their new manager.
Musiala is considered a highly desirable signing for Liverpool, but there is a looming spectre of interest from Manchester City.
He has showcased his versatility in various attacking positions and has particularly excelled as a right winger for Germany during Euro 2024.
As a result, Musiala could potentially be seen as a long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah on the right side or as the successor to Luis Diaz on the left if the Colombian winger decides to join Barcelona.
Moreover, in the event that Diaz and Salah decide to stay, Musiala could potentially fill the No 10 position in Slot’s usual 4-2-3-1 formation.
However, there are still several obstacles to overcome before Musiala can make his way to Anfield.
Firstly, previous reports have indicated that Bayern would demand €120m/£101.5m if they were reluctantly forced to sell him.
This amount would surpass Liverpool’s current transfer record (Darwin Nunez – £85m, including future add-ons).
Furthermore, if Musiala becomes available for transfer, Manchester City will pose as strong competition.
The Guardian has previously identified Musiala as Man City’s top attacking target for the summer.
However, there hasn’t been much news regarding the potential transfer lately, which could be due to the lack of indication that Musiala is actually available during this transfer window.
Liverpool, however, appear ready to take advantage of the situation and spare no cost in case Bayern and Musiala choose to go their separate ways.
