Arsenal initiates discussions for potential transfer of Euro 2024 standout Fabian Ruiz.

Transfer negotiations underway as Arsenal looks to add Euro 2024 standout Fabian Ruiz to their squad.

Arsenal have opened talks with Paris Saint-Germain regarding the acquisition of Spain international midfielder Fabian Ruiz, as reported by The Transfers Podcast.

Ruiz, aged 28, showcased his talent during Euro 2024 by scoring two goals, providing two assists, and earning a spot in the UEFA team of the tournament as Spain secured their fourth title.

Despite his success on the international stage, Ruiz has faced challenges at the club level following his transfer from Napoli in August 2022 for an initial fee of €21.5 million, with a contract running until 2027.

None of the managers he has worked with at PSG have consistently chosen him as their first option.

Last season, under Luis Enrique, he only started 21 matches in Ligue 1 and the Champions League.

However, he showcased exceptional performances during the European Championship.

According to Duncan Castles on The Transfers Podcast, he was the player who won the most balls in the tournament and twice as many in the final third of the pitch compared to any other player.

With his pressing ability, accurate passing, and skill in one-on-one situations, he seems like a perfect fit for Arteta’s style of play at Arsenal.

Ruiz’s potential move to Arsenal hinges on specific conditions being met. The discussions are contingent on Arsenal offloading a midfielder.

If an agreement is reached with PSG regarding the transfer fee, the deal could mirror the structure used for David Raya’s transfer from Brentford – a loan with an obligation to buy a year later.

Ruiz, who came up through the Real Betis youth system and later joined Napoli in 2018, has experience winning the Coppa Italia with Napoli before moving to PSG.

During his time at Parc des Princes, Ruiz contributed to two Ligue 1 title victories and a Coupe de France triumph.

He also added a second senior international medal during Euro 2024, following his success in the 2022/23 UEFA Nations League with Luis de la Fuente’s team.
