Darwin Nunez Says Goodbye to Liverpool and Shares His Next Move.

Liverpool forward ‘confident’ that his exit from the Reds ‘will soon be a reality’ as he selects his ‘next destination.’

Reports indicate that Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez is poised to depart Anfield during the summer transfer window, with plans for his next club already in motion.

The Reds acquired the Uruguayan from Benfica in 2022 for an estimated fee of £85 million, following an impressive tally of 48 goals in 85 matches.

However, Nunez’s time at Anfield has not unfolded as expected, with a mixed performance in his initial seasons, netting 33 goals in 96 appearances across all competitions.

This season has been particularly challenging, as new manager Arne Slot has shown little faith in the 25-year-old, granting him only eight starts in the Premier League.

With just seven goals in 40 appearances this season—23 of which were as a substitute—it appears increasingly likely that the Liverpool striker will be transferred this summer.

Nunez ‘is convinced that his departure from Liverpool is imminent, and he is already collaborating with his close associates to identify his next club.’

The report further states:

‘The Uruguayan forward has several options available, but one stands out as the frontrunner: Atlético de Madrid.

The red-and-white club aims to bolster its attacking lineup in the upcoming transfer window, as most of their forwards, aside from Julián Álvarez, may be leaving.’

Nunez ‘matches the profile that Atlético seeks, and Liverpool is prepared to facilitate the sale of the striker,’ given that Slot ‘does not view him as a key player in the Reds’ attack,’ with Liverpool reportedly asking for €65 million for his transfer.

Nunez commented: “I’m focused on the national team and enjoying every moment with them.

These are the ups and downs of football, and as I mentioned recently, I’m not one to give up just because I’m not playing. Instead, I will continue to work hard so I…

I recognize that my performance has not been up to par.

It can be challenging because when I have a good game, like when I played against PSG and assisted Harvey Elliott’s winning goal in the first leg, my confidence soars, and I feel capable of continuing that momentum in the next match.

However, there are times when I experience a dip in form. Regardless, I remain committed to supporting my teammates and striving to return to the national team.

I have a strong mindset, bolstered by the unwavering support of my family, which is crucial for me to keep pushing forward and bringing happiness to everyone around me.
