Arsenal has finalized its second transfer deal of the summer, with the purchasing club reportedly set to accept the offer “without hesitation.”
According to reports, Arsenal has reached an agreement on their second deal of the summer, as the club is prepared to accept a bid ‘without hesitation.
The club is already gearing up for its summer transfer activities, with two deals seemingly in place.
Currently, Arsenal finds itself 13 points adrift of Liverpool in the title race, with only 11 matches remaining.
Manager Mikel Arteta has faced significant challenges this season due to injuries, with four key forwards—Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, and Gabriel Jesus—currently sidelined.
Following a goalless draw against Nottingham Forest, Arteta remarked in the post-match press conference that the team is “adapting to the quality that we have.”
With only the Champions League left to compete for, there is a recognition that this summer could bring substantial changes to the squad.
Arsenal is likely to see several players depart this summer, including Oleksandr Zinchenko, Kieran Tierney, Leandro Trossard, Jakub Kiwior, Fabio Vieira, and Reiss Nelson.
Additionally, key first-team players Thomas Partey and Jorginho are both nearing the end of their contracts.
In light of potential departures, journalist Sami Mokbel from The Mail reported last month that a transfer for Martin Zubimendi was “virtually complete.” Now, it seems that another deal is on the verge of being finalized as well.
Spanish media outlet AS has reported on Joan Garcia, the Espanyol goalkeeper, who has been frequently linked with Arsenal over the past year.
Last summer, the North London club had reached an agreement with Garcia but ultimately did not secure his transfer due to their unwillingness to meet his release clause, opting instead to sign Bournemouth’s Neto on loan.
AS reports that there is a “good chance” Garcia could reunite with fellow countryman David Raya, who is currently ranked fourth in FourFourTwo’s list of the world’s top goalkeepers.
Despite the La Liga club having turned down a €20 million offer for the keeper last summer, they are now reportedly willing to accept the same amount “without hesitation.”
Arsenal continues to seek a long-term backup to challenge Raya. However, AS’s assertion that the Catalan club would accept two-thirds of the release clause, which increases to €30 million if Garcia plays for the national team, may not be entirely reliable.
Given that Arsenal is likely to pay the full release clause for Zubimendi, it seems improbable that they would also commit to Garcia’s fee, totaling €80 million for two players this summer without any installment options, before addressing the need for a striker.
Arteta will need to devise a more structured approach for acquiring Garcia or risk having to settle for a less expensive backup goalkeeper.
