Arsenal XI vs Aston Villa: Predicted lineup, confirmed team news, and injury updates for today’s Premier League match

The Gunners are optimistic about Bruno Guimaraes’ return as Ezri Konsa looks forward to debuting against his former team.

Arsenal will make a last-minute decision regarding Bruno Guimaraes’ fitness ahead of their match against Aston Villa.

The Gunners should be feeling confident after following up their impressive Community Shield victory over Manchester City with a solid win against newly-promoted Coventry to kick off the new Premier League season.

The £75 million summer acquisition Guimaraes missed the match against Frank Lampard’s Championship winners due to a groin injury, having left the previous week’s game in Cardiff with an ice pack on his thigh.

The midfielder has not participated in training with the main squad recently, but Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has not completely ruled him out for the encounter at Villa Park.

“We have managed the last few days with him [Guimaraes],” Arteta stated during his pre-match press conference on Thursday.

“He’s been on the pitch and has participated in training sessions. However, we need to manage his workload to ensure he is in the best possible condition for Monday and available for selection. He is potentially available.”

Should Guimaraes be unavailable, Arteta might choose to maintain an unchanged starting lineup against a Villa team that suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat at Brighton on the opening weekend.

Myles Lewis-Skelly continues to shine in midfield, while Kai Havertz has been impressive leading the attack and linking up with players like Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka.

Ezri Konsa is anticipated to be included in the squad and is in line for a debut against his former club, although Arteta may prefer to give the defender some minutes from the bench instead of starting him.

Gabriel Martinelli is expected to finalize his transfer to Al-Hilal over the weekend, while Gabriel Jesus and Fabio Vieira are unlikely to be part of the squad as Arsenal seeks to find buyers for both players before Tuesday’s transfer deadline.

Reiss Nelson has reached an agreement for a mutual termination of his contract at the Emirates Stadium, making him a free agent.

Despite increasing his training efforts this week, Jurrien Timber is still unavailable following minor groin surgery he had over the summer. Additionally, William Saliba continues to be out due to a back problem.

Predicted Arsenal Starting XI: Raya; White, Mosquera, Gabriel, Calafiori; Lewis-Skelly, Rice; Saka, Odegaard, Tzolis; Havertz

Injured Players: Timber, Saliba

Doubtful Player: Guimaraes
