Arsenal has reached an ‘agreement’ for a £64.4m signing, allowing Man Utd to pursue a £68.3m star – Report

Arsenal has reached an ‘agreement’, delivering a setback to Man Utd.

Manchester United and Arsenal are both aiming to enhance their attacking lineups. The Gunners are seeking an upgrade over Kai Havertz.

Conversely, the Red Devils are looking to replace Hojlund and Zirkzee, who collectively scored just 7 goals in the Premier League last season.

Both Arsenal and Man Utd have been pursuing Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres, but the latest news suggests that the north Londoners are now shifting their focus to Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig.

According to today’s edition of Diario Sport, Arsenal is nearing a deal for the Slovenian center forward at a cost of 75 million euros (£64.4m) plus add-ons.

Mikel Arteta’s side had a verbal agreement to sign Gyokeres, but that fell through as negotiations became exceedingly difficult due to Sporting president Federico Varandas.

The Spanish media outlet has reported that the Swedish player has an agreement with the Lions to depart for 60 million euros.

However, this may not be accurate, as if the price were indeed 60 million euros, Arsenal would have likely pushed to finalize the deal rather than opting to pay over 75 million euros for Sesko.

With Gyokeres ‘moving away’ from Arsenal, who are now concentrating on Sesko, Man Utd has a clearer opportunity to reunite the Swede with Amorim at Old Trafford.

Recent reports from Portugal, specifically O Jogo, indicate that a fee of 80 million euros (£68.3m) will be required to secure the services of the Liga Nos striker.

Sesko is a skilled center forward, but his statistics do not compare favorably to those of Gyokeres. The 22-year-old managed only 13 goals in 33 Bundesliga appearances for Leipzig last season.

In contrast, Viktor scored 39 goals in 33 league matches and played a crucial role in helping Sporting retain the Primeira Liga title.
