Arsenal is planning to make a move to acquire a £43m star in order to strengthen a crucial position, according to a report on Arteta’s intentions to bolster the team.
According to the Mirror, Arsenal is said to be keen on acquiring the services of RB Leipzig’s talented player, Benjamin Sesko, during the upcoming summer transfer window.
Having made a strong impression while playing for Leipzig’s sister club, Red Bull Salzburg, last season, the 20-year-old forward made the move to the German side last summer. However, upon his arrival at the Red Bull Arena, Sesko initially faced difficulties in securing a spot in Marco Rose’s starting lineup for this season.
However, with Timo Werner’s departure to Tottenham Hotspur, Sesko has emerged as a regular starter for RB Leipzig. In his recent performances, he has scored seven goals and provided two assists in 11 league starts.
According to a report from the Mirror, Arsenal is prioritizing the strengthening of their frontline this summer and has begun evaluating potential options in the market. The report suggests that the Gunners have already identified several players, including Ivan Toney, Victor Osimhen, Lois Openda, and Viktor Gyokeres. However, Sesko is also on their radar.
The Mirror states that Arsenal has been closely monitoring Sesko in recent times and may consider making a move to bolster their attacking department. One advantage of signing Sesko is that he has a release clause of £43m in his current contract, making him a more affordable option compared to Osimhen, Toney, or Gyokeres.
Standing at 6ft 4in tall, Sesko possesses impressive attributes. He is quick, technically skilled, capable of dribbling past defenders in tight spaces, efficient in finishing chances, and works hard even without possession.
The potential of the Leipzig star to become a top-class striker in the future has been evident through glimpses of his qualities. However, considering Sesko’s young age, it is important to allow him time to develop his career.
As a result, he may not be the ideal option for Arsenal to achieve their ambitious goals next season. It would be wise for Mikel Arteta’s side to explore more proven options to strengthen their frontline.
It will be intriguing to observe whether the North London club will eventually make a concrete approach to acquire Sesko’s services in the upcoming transfer window.
In the meantime, Arsenal, who have secured eight consecutive victories in the Premier League, will face off against their title rival Manchester City on Sunday evening. It remains to be seen if the Emirates club can maintain their winning streak by defeating the Citizens.
