Arsenal hold talks to sign £77m “world-class superstar” After Benjamin Sesko transfer agreement to Arsenal…

Arsenal are in discussions to acquire a £77m “world-class superstar” following the transfer agreement for Benjamin Sesko to the club.
The Gunners have initiated talks to secure a £77m “superstar” who is considered superior to Williams.
While the top teams in the Premier League, such as Liverpool and Manchester City, have been splurging on transfers, Arsenal has remained inactive.
Should we be surprised by this? Not particularly. In the past two transfer windows, the Gunners have not enhanced their attacking options, and their attempts to finally recruit a striker this summer have been unsuccessful.
Arsenal has reached an ‘agreement’ in their pursuit of Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko.
The club is actively searching for a new striker this summer and has pinpointed Benjamin Sesko as a key target, with the Gunners now having reached an ‘agreement’ with the RB Leipzig player.
Reports indicate that Arsenal has settled on personal terms with Benjamin Sesko, bringing them closer to signing the RB Leipzig talent as they seek a new striker.
The Gunners are poised to bring in a new No. 9 this summer in their effort to reclaim the Premier League title, having identified the 22-year-old Sesko as one of their main attacking targets.
Despite the anticipation that Sesko will leave Leipzig this summer, Arsenal is also considering other players as the transfer window approaches.
Acquiring a new center forward is not the only priority for Andrea Berta this summer.
Arsenal’s search for a new winger
Due to several factors, primarily Bukayo Saka’s heavy workload and the inconsistent performances of Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli, Arsenal is in need of a new winger this summer.
Regrettably, it now appears that Athletic Bilbao’s Spanish talent, Nico Williams, is unlikely to be that addition.
The north London club has shown interest in the 22-year-old for over a year, but the winger is focusing on a move to Barcelona, which is his dream destination.
As a result, interested clubs like Arsenal and Chelsea have reportedly ‘cooled’ their interest, according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein.
In light of that recent setback, it appears that Arsenal is intensifying their pursuit of Real Madrid’s star player, Rodrygo.
This information comes from journalist Ben Jacobs, who took to social media on Tuesday afternoon to disclose that Mikel Arteta and his team have a ‘genuine interest’ in the Brazilian forward.
Initial discussions have already taken place with the player’s representatives since May, but it will require a fee of approximately £77m to persuade the Spanish club to part with him.
With Xavi Alonso now at the helm as the new manager, it seems that the former midfielder is not particularly enthusiastic about Rodrygo.
As a result, Arsenal should make every effort to entice the player to make a move.
Comparing Rodrygo to Nico Williams
Williams has quickly emerged as a standout player over the past year, having been one of the tournament’s stars at Euro 2024 when he was just 21, helping his nation secure the championship.
The left winger was exceptional throughout the tournament, especially when he netted the opening goal in the final against England.
However, since that triumph, he has struggled to find his form, despite the undeniable potential that still exists within him.
Williams has not been a prolific scorer, managing to find the back of the net only five times in the league this season.
In contrast, Rodrygo has the ability to provide Arteta with the additional goals necessary for his team to compete for both the title and the Champions League.
Last season, Martinelli and Trossard combined for a mere 16 goals across the 73 Premier League matches they played.
In comparison, Rodrygo has outperformed both players combined in his last 73 LaLiga appearances, scoring 20 goals.
Although the 2024/25 season was not his most successful, as he was often positioned on the right to accommodate Vinicius Jr and Kylian Mbappe, Rodrygo is significantly more adept in front of goal than Martinelli and, importantly, Williams as well.
Reflecting on the 2022/23 season, the Brazilian superstar scored 19 goals, surpassing Martinelli’s best season total of 15, which interestingly occurred in the same year.
Rodrygo’s skill set extends beyond his versatility—he can play as a forward or on either wing—encompassing a strong creative aspect as well.
Upon examining the statistics, it is evident that Williams is also a notably creative player, excelling in that domain more than in scoring goals.
Nevertheless, Arsenal continues to be effective in creating opportunities. What they require is a player who can reliably convert chances into goals, and Rodrygo has consistently done so across all competitions since 2022, outperforming Martinelli, Trossard, and Williams in this regard.
In the previous season, no player in red and white achieved double-digit goals. Kai Havertz led the team with 15 goals, and they concluded the season with Mikel Merino filling in as a makeshift striker.
Based on this evidence, Arsenal is in need of a centre-forward, but they also require additional contributions from other areas of the field. Madrid’s ‘world-class superstar,’ as teammate Luka Modric has referred to him, would undoubtedly be a significant asset in this context.
