Arsenal have first two summer signings agreed, with two more in talks: report…

Arsenal has finalized agreements for their first two summer signings, with discussions ongoing for two additional players, according to reports.
Following their exit from the Champions League last night, preparations for the summer transfer window are intensifying.
The Gunners have secured their initial signings, while negotiations for two more are in progress.
After a 3-1 aggregate defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal’s season is effectively concluded, prompting manager Mikel Arteta to reflect on the squad’s depth and the absence of key players like Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus due to long-term injuries.
Arteta, however, refrained from confirming the need for reinforcements, suggesting that the lack of attacking options impacted the team’s performance.
He expressed pride in his players’ efforts, acknowledging the need for exceptional performances to succeed in competitions.
Additionally, Arsenal has reportedly reached an agreement with Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia, with indications that a renewed €20 million bid would be accepted by the Catalan club.
Recent reports from TEAMtalk indicate that any concerns regarding Real Madrid potentially disrupting Martin Zubimendi’s transfer to the Emirates Stadium have been alleviated, as Los Blancos have withdrawn from the competition entirely.
Esteemed journalist Sami Mokbel mentioned in January that the transfer was ‘virtually done,’ while David Ornstein from the Athletic informed NBC Sports two weeks ago that Arsenal is ‘operating internally as if it is a confirmed deal.’
With two primary targets secured in goal and at the no.6 position regarding personal terms, discussions are ongoing for an additional versatile center-back and a wide attacker to enhance the squad’s depth.
Arsenal’s new sporting director Andrea Berta has intensified negotiations for Valencia’s Cristhian Mosquera amid concerns about the fitness and future of several defenders, while Jamie Gittens is also in discussions, having been somewhat overlooked by Borussia Dortmund’s Niko Kovac since his mid-season arrival.
FourFourTwo reports that the Mosquera deal appears more feasible than Gittens, although both reflect the trajectory of Arsenal’s summer plans. The impact of Zubimendi’s £51m release clause on the club’s finances remains to be seen, with the possibility of amortizing the fee over several years.
However, FourFourTwo suggests that if all four ongoing deals are finalized, Arsenal could be looking at a summer expenditure ranging from £125m to £140m.
It remains uncertain what transfer budget Arsenal will have thereafter; while a nine-figure acquisition for a player like Alexander Isak may still be viable without a significant sale, the club must adhere to Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) and may need to either offload a key player to facilitate a marquee signing or opt for a more affordable alternative such as Viktor Gyokeres, valued at around £50m.
