Arsenal has been given the go-ahead to secure £175m worth of transfers as Mikel Arteta sets his sights on four new signings.

Mikel Arteta has been given the green light to make four major signings for Arsenal as the summer transfer window gets underway.

Arsenal’s summer transfer window is set to pick up pace as Mikel Arteta and Edu receive updates on four significant signings.

The Gunners have been actively pursuing new additions since the start of July, with Euro 2024 currently taking precedence for many players.

Names such as Joshua Kimmich, Riccardo Calafiori, Martin Zubimendi, Amadou Onana, and Johan Bakayoko have all been linked to Arsenal during the tournament.

However, as the competition progresses towards its conclusion, some potential targets have already departed Germany.

The Gunners are set to put their plans into action in the coming days, but it’s important to note that most of the players they are eyeing are still in the tournament.

Despite this, Calafiori has already been eliminated after Italy’s loss to Switzerland in the round of 16.

Even if a player of interest to Arteta and Edu was eliminated in the group stages, it was highly unlikely Arsenal could have made anything official, however that has now changed.

On Monday, July 1, the summer transfer window opened in Italy, Germany, Spain, France and Portugal – two weeks on from the Premier League trading period beginning.

As a result, Arsenal now have the opportunity to sign Calafiori, with Bologna acknowledging that it will be impossible to keep him this summer.

While Juventus seem to be the frontrunners, there has been contact from those in north London, although Liverpool, Manchester United, and Real Madrid are also interested.

The Serie A team has reportedly set an asking price of around £40 million for the 22-year-old left-footed center-back, who is in high demand. Kimmich, on the other hand, is currently participating in Euro 2024 and could potentially continue playing until mid-July with Germany.

As Kimmich’s contract with Bayern expires in 2025, clubs interested in signing him will be looking to secure a deal for as little as £30 million before the start of the 2024/25 season.

According to Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany, Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, Real Madrid, and Barcelona are the only clubs that Kimmich is reportedly willing to join.

Meanwhile, with Aaron Ramsdale expected to leave, it seems likely that Arteta will sign a new goalkeeper.

While several names have been linked, Espanyol’s Joan Garcia seems to be the best fit due to the similarities in his profile with David Raya.

Liverpool has shown interest in the £21m-rated goalkeeper, but according to Spanish journalist Gerard Romero, he will soon be joining Arsenal. Arteta’s priority is to strengthen the attack, and if a striker cannot be signed, he will focus on adding depth in the wide areas.

A move for Newcastle’s Alexander Isak is unlikely, but a deal for Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres could be on the cards. Gyokeres has a €100million (£84m) release clause in his contract, which Arsenal may consider activating for a marquee striker signing.

The Portuguese league has also opened its transfer window recently, giving Arsenal the opportunity to negotiate a deal for Gyokeres if they wish to do so.
