Liverpool consider Alexander-Arnold’s return, his adventure at Real Madrid is heading towards failure

Trent Alexander-Arnold could return to Liverpool, just a year after leaving the English club, as he is failing to find the space he expected at Real Madrid.

A comeback that until recently seemed impossible is now being mentioned as a concrete possibility.

According to TEAMtalk, the English defender has begun to consider his future in Madrid, due to the limited minutes available, reports “Gazeta Express”.

Alexander-Arnold is happy with life in the Spanish capital, but the lack of consistency on the pitch is becoming a serious problem.

The last case was the match against Sevilla, when coach José Mourinho preferred to activate Federico Valverde in the right-back position, leaving the Englishman on the bench again.

Only three games as a starter this season

The former Liverpool player transferred to Real Madrid in the summer of 2025, with high expectations, but has so far failed to secure a stable place in the starting lineup.

Last season, Alexander-Arnold recorded only 14 appearances as a starter, while in the current edition he has started only three matches.

This situation has added to doubts about his future at the Santiago Bernabeu, especially as competition for the right-back position remains strong.

Liverpool, ready to bring back its symbol?

Liverpool is closely monitoring the situation of its former player, who for many years was one of the team’s key figures and one of the most distinguished defenders in English football.

The Reds are looking to strengthen their right-back position and a return for Alexander-Arnold would be a sensational development, given the way he parted ways with the club in the summer of 2025.

However, Liverpool are not the only club monitoring the situation. Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Bayern Munich have also reportedly shown interest in the Englishman.

Real Madrid have no intention of forcing the player to leave, but could consider a suitable offer. The main obstacle to a potential transfer remains the high salary that Alexander-Arnold receives in the Spanish capital.

At the moment, there is no agreement for a return to Anfield, but the limited minutes at Real could make this option increasingly attractive for both parties.
