BREAKING NEWS: LIVERPOOL FC have identified a new Defensive Midfield target after Iraola finally made up his mind to get a CDM. And reportedly, the new target is

Sources: Liverpool told Alex Scott’s price tag likely to soar beyond £100m

Alex Scott’s asking price at Bournemouth could go above £100million with Liverpool among the clubs keen on the midfielder, sources have told Football Insider.

The Anfield side are one of the many keeping tabs on the 23-year-old, with Chelsea also in the mix.

Scott has been an exemplary player for the Cherries over the past few years, with those exploits handing him opportunities at international level.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, the England international’s price may now further increase.

Is Alex Scott worth anything near £100m?

With the January window creeping closer, Bournemouth will want to maintain a hard stance on their star.

And an increasing price could end up keeping him at the Vitality Stadium until the summer at the very least.

Why Alex Scott’s Bournemouth asking price could now increase

Scott’s recent call-up to Thomas Tuchel’s England squad could help Bournemouth bring in a higher transfer fee for the midfielder.

When a player competes at international level, it does make them a more prestigious and experienced option.

There is no pressure quite like representing your whole country. Over the recent international break, the Bournemouth ace was handed two caps, including his debut.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “Interest is always going to remain in someone like Alex Scott, and probably his stock is even higher right now following his recent displays for England against Croatia.”

“It’s a difficult deal to do in January because of the price tag, and it’s probably more likely to go up, and next summer will be the time maybe for Scott’s suitors to make a move for him, especially if he doesn’t sign a new contract with his current deal at Bournemouth running until 2028.”

With Scott’s contract only running until 2028, next summer will be key to the future of his time at Vitality Stadium.

The Cherries will not want to lose out on bringing in money for an asset they feel could be a record sale.

If a new contract is not agreed, Bournemouth will likely be forced to allow the English international to leave.

And from a negotiating standpoint, that is far from ideal.

However, where Bournemouth do have the upper hand is through the plethora of interest in the midfielder.

Due to that, the Cherries could incite a bidding war, putting any worries of being strong-armed behind them
