Liverpool has provided a significant update just hours ahead of their match against Bologna, with three players being added to the squad.
Hours before facing Bologna, Liverpool has dropped a major hint by adding three players to their squad.
The team is set to compete against Bologna in the Champions League at Anfield. Notably, Trey Nyoni has been left out of the Liverpool under-19 squad for today’s UEFA Youth League match against their Bologna counterparts.
This absence indicates that the midfielder may be called up to join the first team for Arne Slot’s Champions League fixture against the Italian side this evening at 20:00 BST.
In the Champions League, teams are allowed to name 12 substitutes, and currently, Liverpool has 22 senior players available due to injuries affecting Federico Chiesa and Harvey Elliott.
Consequently, Nyoni may have the opportunity to make his Champions League debut to ensure the team has a full bench.
The 17-year-old, who joined from Leicester City last summer, is highly regarded and has made a strong impression during pre-season, regularly training with the first team.
He participated in training sessions yesterday at the AXA Training Centre, where Chiesa and Diogo Jota were absent.
Head coach Slot is optimistic that Jota will be fit to play after sustaining a minor injury in last Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Wolves.
