Bayern Munich is set to hold a crucial meeting regarding Anthony Gordon following a significant update from Newcastle United.

According to reports, Bayern Munich officials are preparing for an important discussion at the club’s training facility, with Anthony Gordon being a primary focus.

The speculation surrounding the Newcastle United winger has intensified. Gordon, who has not played since the 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace on April 12, was left on the bench during the Magpies’ draw with Nottingham Forest.

Eddie Howe hinted yesterday that his decision to exclude Gordon from the lineup at the City Ground was partly due to considerations for the future. This statement has further fueled transfer rumors, just a day after he asserted that the 25-year-old was dedicated to the team.

What Eddie Howe mentioned after the Nottingham Forest match

“The team has performed admirably in Anthony’s absence,” he stated to BBC Radio Newcastle following the 1-1 draw with Forest. “Clearly, we opted for a more solid approach with Joelinton playing wide and one winger on the opposite side to enhance our defensive strength, as we were dissatisfied with our defensive performance.

“Since January, we have felt let down – hence the structural change. Ant has regained his fitness. He is training effectively, but I am also considering the future.”

German media outlet Bavarian Football Works reports that Bayern’s top executives are convening today to deliberate on the forthcoming summer transfer window. A move for Gordon is high on their agenda.

Multiple sources indicate that the Bundesliga club has tentatively agreed to a five-year contract for the winger, contingent upon reaching a deal with Newcastle. Sky Sports revealed last week that Bayern has initiated direct negotiations regarding a summer transfer.

It is believed that the two clubs are significantly apart in their valuation. Newcastle has placed a price tag exceeding £75 million on the England international.

Bayern’s sporting director, Max Eberl, is anticipated to lead the meeting and prioritize Gordon on his list of desired players. The report identifies the player’s agent, Gordon Stipic-Wipfler, a German national, as a crucial element.
