Fabio Carvalho has received a significant indication of his prospects under Arne Slot.

Fabio Carvalho is poised to make a comeback to Liverpool for pre-season this summer, presenting an opportunity to catch the eye of Arne Slot. Previous interest in transferring suggests that he may have a chance.

After a challenging season that included loan stints at RB Leipzig and Hull, Carvalho is currently enjoying a break before returning to Liverpool. His move to Hull in January allowed him to showcase his skills once more, tallying nine goals and two assists in 20 matches. Now, he aims to make his mark at Liverpool.

Under the guidance of a new head coach, Slot, who has taken over from Jurgen Klopp, Carvalho will strive to prove himself, especially after Klopp’s apparent loss of faith in him.

The attacking midfielder is expected to be among the first players to return to the AXA Training Centre in July, with the opportunity to impress Slot early on.

This could be influenced by the fact that Slot’s former club, Feyenoord, had shown interest in signing Carvalho during his tenure.

It remains unclear whether this interest was during his time at Fulham or when Liverpool were considering a loan move for him, but according to The Athletic’s Andy Jones, it indicates that Carvalho is a player that Slot admires.

While Slot was not directly involved in transfer decisions at Feyenoord, where he also served as head coach, he likely had input on potential signings.

Targeting Carvalho as a potential signing suggests that the 45-year-old sees a role for him in his team in Rotterdam.

The potential success of his new Liverpool team could hinge on his preferred 4-2-3-1 formation, which centers around a No. 10, unlike Klopp’s 4-3-3 formation.

Upon his loan move to Leipzig last summer, Carvalho mentioned that the absence of a specialized No. 10 in Klopp’s tactics was the reason for his struggles.

In a recent interview with the Liverpool Echo, Carvalho reiterated his preference for the No. 10 role, stating that playing out wide is not his natural position, unlike Lucho Diaz.

Carvalho expressed his dissatisfaction with his loan spell at Leipzig last summer, attributing it to the absence of a specialized No. 10 position in Klopp’s system.

According to Carvalho, “When we have a No. 10 on the field, I can utilize my strengths and showcase my ability to turn the game around.”

In a recent interview with the Liverpool Echo, Carvalho reiterated his preference for playing as a No. 10. While he acknowledged his capability to contribute on the wings, he emphasized that it is not his natural position.

Unlike Lucho Diaz, Carvalho believes that his true calling lies in the No. 10 role. It is where he finds joy and fulfillment on the pitch.
