Arne Slot has pinpointed the initial Liverpool departure as the new manager faces an early setback.

Arne Slot prepares for his first day as Liverpool head coach at Anfield this Saturday as he officially starts his contract, signaling the beginning of a new era for the club.

Following Jurgen Klopp’s emotional farewell to the Liverpool fans on Tuesday, the stage is set for Slot to take charge of a team that has recently secured a spot in the Champions League. While hopes of a Premier League title under Klopp’s leadership fell short, Slot remains hopeful that his team will be competitive in the upcoming season.

As Slot steps into his new role, it is clear that changes will be inevitable. The ECHO’s latest media review suggests that Slot may face challenges in achieving his objectives, but he is determined to make his mark on the team.

Former Liverpool defender Steve Nicol has stated that Mohamed Salah is likely to be the first choice for Slot to sell in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Nicol emphasized that Salah would probably be at the top of the list. He mentioned, “I honestly believe that probably Mohamed Salah would be top of the list.

Listen, if you’re going to get £100m for him, I think you take it.” Liverpool, however, is operating under the assumption that Salah will remain with the team next season as his contract nears its end.

Despite this, Nicol’s point about Slot potentially considering selling Salah for £100m is valid. It would not be wise to turn down such a significant amount for a player who could leave for free in 2025. The question remains whether such an offer will materialize.

Slot faces setback in backroom staff recruitment

Algemeen Dagblad reports that Slot’s plans to bring one of his trusted assistants to the club this summer may be hindered.

Etienne Reijnen, whom the Dutchman enjoys working with, apparently lacks the necessary coaching qualifications to make the move to the Premier League.

Reijnen’s lack of qualifications also poses challenges in obtaining a work visa for the UK.

According to The ECHO, this setback could be one of the most significant obstacles for Slot as he strives to implement his vision at Liverpool. In the modern era of football, no manager can handle every aspect of the job alone.

The head coach relies on a team of trusted individuals, and Slot will undoubtedly be disappointed that Reijnen may not be able to join him on this new journey.

Hiring a coaching team is typically considered a relatively straightforward task for a new manager, but it seems that Slot may have to add another responsibility to his already extensive to-do list.
