Liverpool makes a final decision regarding the sale of Konate in light of the signings of Guehi and Leoni.

Liverpool is nearing the acquisition of centre-backs Marc Guehi and Giovanni Leoni, and a report has disclosed their intentions concerning Ibrahima Konate amidst rumors linking him to Real Madrid and his expiring contract.

The club invested significantly at the beginning of the transfer window, securing players such as Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, and Florian Wirtz.

Focus then shifted to strengthening the centre-back and striker positions. In terms of the latter, Hugo Ekitike has joined the squad, and the Reds are determined to make another bid for Alexander Isak.

In the centre-back position, Liverpool has reached an agreement on personal terms with Guehi and is in the process of finalizing a deal with Crystal Palace, expected to be in the £30m-£35m range.

Crystal Palace is parting ways with Guehi due to his contract situation. The England international is in the final year of his contract, and the club is keen to avoid losing a valuable asset for free next summer.

Liverpool finds itself in a similar predicament with Konate, whose contract is set to expire at the end of the 2025/26 season.

Real Madrid is reportedly preparing to make a move, and in line with their recent strategy, they aim to acquire a top-tier player through free agency.

There have even been discussions—mainly in the Spanish press—about Real Madrid potentially making a low-cost offer this summer, and with the anticipated arrivals of Guehi and Leoni from Parma, Liverpool might consider selling while they still have the opportunity.

However, according to a recent update from the Daily Mail, Liverpool has decided NOT to sell Konate this summer, and if they have their way, Real Madrid will not be able to sign him next year either.

The report stated: ‘Liverpool has no plans to sell Ibrahima Konate during this transfer window, despite pursuing two centre-back signings, as they continue to negotiate a new contract for the French player.

‘While the Premier League club is working on deals for Giovanni Leoni from Parma and Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace, Konate remains a crucial part of their strategy for the upcoming season.

Real Madrid is closely watching Konate’s circumstances as they consider the possibility of signing him as a free agent next year if Liverpool cannot reach a new agreement. Other European teams are also keeping an eye on the situation involving the 26-year-old.
