Arsenal’s injury update reveals the latest return dates for Rice, Gabriel, and Partey.

Unfortunately, the victory against Crystal Palace came with a price. Following the winter break, Arsenal suffered two significant injuries upon their return to action.

During their training camp in Dubai, Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko showed promising performances in the 5-0 triumph over Crystal Palace. However, as these two players made their comeback, two others, Declan Rice and Gabriel, sustained injuries during the game and may now face some time on the sidelines.

Here is the latest update on Arsenal’s injury news and return dates:

Declan Rice, the midfielder, experienced muscle tightness during the game and was substituted with 20 minutes remaining.

Mikel Arteta, the manager, stated, “Rice was feeling some tightness. I am unsure which muscle it was. However, when he expresses discomfort at 3-0, we do not want to take any risks.” Rice will undergo further assessment in the upcoming days before the match against Nottingham Forest on January 30, 2024. The potential return date is currently unknown.

Defender Gabriel had a similar situation, as he played for just over an hour in the victory against Palace.

He scored a goal and played a crucial role in another before being substituted. Arteta explained, “He experienced some discomfort; he had a tackle in the first half and was struggling a bit, so it was the right moment to take him off.” The potential return date for Gabriel is currently unknown.

Fabio Vieira, the midfielder, has resumed training in Dubai after undergoing surgery on his groin in November.

Despite Mikel Arteta’s initial plan for his comeback during the winter break, Vieira was once again absent from the matchday squad for the victory over Palace. However, there is hope for his return on Tuesday, January 30, against Nottingham Forest.

As for Thomas Partey, although he is currently not participating in the Africa Cup of Nations, he will have to wait a little longer before making his playing return.

Despite this, there are indications that he is recovering well from his thigh injury and may have the opportunity to face Forest this month. The potential return date for Partey is also Tuesday, January 30, against Nottingham Forest.

Jurrien Timber, on the other hand, is facing a long-term absence due to a serious knee injury.

Arteta provided an update on his condition before the recent defeat to Liverpool, stating that Timber is progressing well but still has a significant way to go before being fit to train or compete with the team. Therefore, his potential return date is set for the spring or summer of 2024.
