Newcastle’s £26m target has made a decision regarding his transfer preference after Matthias Jaissle has given his approval for the signing.

Benfica’s Amar Dedic reportedly wishes to join Newcastle United, with the new head coach Matthias Jaissle endorsing his arrival.

Last summer was disappointing, but this summer’s transfer window has proven to be even more challenging for Newcastle.

The Magpies have consistently failed to secure their transfer targets, and they have also lost key players such as Eddie Howe, Sandro Tonali, Bruno Guimaraes, and Anthony Gordon.

Lewis Hall is said to be eager to leave alongside these prominent figures amid interest from Manchester United, although Newcastle is currently maintaining that the England international is not available for transfer.

With Jaissle now at the helm, Newcastle has a significant task ahead after replacing Howe.

Now, Dedic, a defender from Benfica and Bosnia, could be the next addition, especially since he has previously collaborated with Jaissle at Red Bull Salzburg.

As reported by our colleagues at TEAMtalk, Dedic is among several options Newcastle is considering and has initiated discussions with Benfica. The 23-year-old primarily plays as a right-back but is also versatile enough to play as a centre-back and left-back.

Newcastle is in need of reinforcements at full-back, and the report indicates that they were pursuing Dedic even before Jaissle’s appointment, with the new head coach also having given his endorsement for the transfer.

Amar Dedic has made a choice regarding his potential move to Newcastle United. It is reported that Dedic will come at a cost of approximately £26m this summer and has attracted interest from other Premier League teams, yet his ‘clear preference’ remains to join Newcastle.

The report further clarifies: ‘Newcastle is aware of competing interest. We understand that Everton and Fulham are among the clubs keeping an eye on Dedic’s situation, while Benfica is open to considering offers for the player.

Dedic has a clear preference. He is keen to join Newcastle and would appreciate the chance to work with Jaissle again.

When questioned about Newcastle’s need to bolster their full-back position on Tuesday, Jaissle replied: “We are fully aware internally of the positions that may require strengthening in the squad.

“However, this is not something to discuss here at the press conference. We have confidence in the players we currently possess. After the match in Valencia, we had a conversation where you expressed happiness about the young players receiving opportunities, which aligns with the club’s philosophy. Every minute they play allows them to develop.

“As I mentioned in my initial statement, there will be changes in the squad. We still have time.”
