Why William Saliba is set to participate in Arsenal’s upcoming match, despite receiving a red card…
Arsenal’s next game will see William Saliba in action, regardless of his recent red card.
Even with a red card, William Saliba is expected to take part in Arsenal’s next fixture.
William Saliba will be available for Arsenal’s upcoming match despite his recent red card.
Following a straight red card in Arsenal’s 2-0 loss to Bournemouth on Saturday, Saliba has been handed a three-match suspension.
The dismissal occurred early in the game, with referee Rob Jones issuing the red card in the 30th minute, contributing to Arsenal’s defeat, which leaves them in third place in the Premier League standings.
However, there is a silver lining for Arsenal, as Saliba will be eligible to play in their next fixture.
His suspension will not take effect until Sunday, October 27, allowing him to participate in the UEFA Champions League match against Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday.
It is important to note that suspensions for red cards in domestic competitions, such as the Premier League, must be served in those specific matches.
In contrast, a straight red card received during a European match only affects the player’s eligibility for the next three European games, leaving domestic matches unaffected.
As a result, Saliba, who is currently regarded as a top defender, will be on the pitch for the Champions League encounter, despite his recent disciplinary issue.
Mikel Arteta faces a decision regarding Saliba’s participation against Shakhtar Donetsk.
With the defender set to miss three domestic matches, including a crucial game against Liverpool, Arteta might consider giving a start to a replacement, such as Jakub Kiwior, to help them adjust to the starting lineup ahead of the Liverpool clash.
It is our belief that Arteta should prioritize starting Saliba, who is a target for Real Madrid, to ensure the defender remains match-fit and in optimal condition for the future.
With Saliba set to be sidelined for three upcoming matches, there is a risk of him becoming rusty and susceptible to injuries upon his return to play.
